I've noticed a howling wind noise when I reach 30 mph with my 2024 Sport Premium. I took off the ugly chin spoiler now the dealership says that's what's causing this issue... Anyone else with a removed spoiler get a similar noise? I used to have a roof rack with bikes and kayaks on my 2020 and never got the slightest wind noise...

I somehow doubt something being under the nose of the truck would produce this loud of wind noise or we'd call it a siren!

I have had mine removed for a month and have not noticed any noise. As easy as it is to reinstall, I recommend putting it back on and see if the noise is still present.

Edit: I failed to mention that I did purchase and install an OEM Offroad skid plate to replace the felt one.

    Far to much money spent.
I added the main front section back in after cutting to cover the wind chime slots, also tucked in the felt liner into the bolted areas.processed-39225A86-C7F9-4CE9-B755-8809474C7FDC.jpg

I had this happen a couple times the first few days I had the truck, but it sounded like it was coming from above the driver door. Hasn’t happened since, also never had a chin spoiler.

On my 2020 AC I kept it on. Never a issue. On my 2023 sport I took it off & noticed I lost 1 mpg & I actually love it on. So back on it went & never a noise.... EDIT: I might like it off if I had the funds for a nice skid plate & maybe some fancy dancy bumper with LED lights. But the lottery tickets aren't panning out so far

Didn’t early 3rd gen have this issue? The tsb fix was to place rubber plugs in some of the holes in the lower control arms

I wonder how an Off-road differs from your Sport now that the air dam is off.

    Put it back on.

Noise still there? Take it back to them.

    Noise gone? They were right.

The Off-road doesn’t have an air dam.

Understood. But that's not the point.

The point is dealer says that's the problem. Put it back, problem still exists, dealer loses an excuse.

Planning to do that tomorrow morning. We'll see what happens. That's why I wanted to check in here since almost everyone who has one with a chin spoiler removes it. I'll post updates.

So I re-installed the spoiler this morning and it looks like it took care of the howling noise. That brings more questions now. I wonder why this doesn't seem to happen to others on here who have taken it off?? Would the reason Toyota have these spoilers to prevent this and help with gas mileage? In any event, this will be a debate over which of my senses I have to deal with; looking at that awful spoiler or hearing some howling sound caused by removing it...

    Interesting.

Maybe you can find someone with an OR to park right next to you and compare specifics under the leading edge of the truck with your dam back off

Barring that, crisp pics of that area on an OR at the dealer to compare with yours.

I don't know but when "we" mod the truck. We take responsibility for the outcome, good or bad, not dealers or Toyota to prove that it's not that mod causing issues. The first course of action is to put the "widget back to stock" and see if it goes away. Just saying...:anonymous:
