It will open further than that most people know. There's a secret. Look in the tips and tricks thread.

Mine does it sometimes in cross winds.

Why not just look at the pop up thingy and see if yours is stuck or missing..... It can't be all that hard.....o_O

Yes the pop-up thingy is there, it pops up, if it’s purpose is deflection clearly it’s insufficient. To answer another, yes I’m aware of the extra bump open past the initial one. I’ve tried that, and other amounts, the noise persists regardless.

LOL, no, we wanted a pic of the sunroof opening to see if the wid deflector was missing or inoperable. You answered that above though.

I do get the "buffeting" with the sunroof open to the second setting but never the first. I also get it when I roll the rear windows only down in any of my vehicles.

Yeah I’ve tried some combos, I’m going to keep trying to find that Goldilocks air pressure combo of windows, I am determined to find it!

Well, it sure is odd. Should be fine at every opening except full.

I wonder if a spring is defective or missing on one side. The deflector is popping up but being forced back back down when you reach Mach 2?

I don’t think the deflector is defective, it stays “up” (doesn’t actually protrude, just mechanically stays flush to the roof line) so rather than “deflect” it seems to just close the air gap from that leading edge assembly.

    It should definitely protrude.

Actually, if you look closely at the middle you can almost see a gap under it.

The deflector on my 4-runner stuck up higher too. I think Rob is right, it looks too low... does it push up higher with your hand?

I get wind buffeting in the wife's 4Runner and my Tacoma. It will happen at speed over 20mph or so regardless of first or second position of the open roof. Only solution is a combination of windows being opened a little or closing the sunroof completely. Our last two cars with sunroofs also did it. Our one car with a panoramic roof never did it though...

This is a stretch but could the front valance being there or not make a difference?
