Around 25-30 MPH I start to hear a howl on the drivers side, consistent with wind noise. Louder to the 45MPH mark. Not happening on passenger side. This is a DCLB TRD Sport. Completely stock, only 110 miles.

    Performed various checks while moving:
Rolled down drivers window - noise was more noticeable
Rolled down drivers side rear window - no change
Folded in mirror - no change
Turned on wipers - no change
Opened and closed moonroof - no change
Turned off HVAC - no change
Down hill, put tranny in Neutral - no change
Installed tonneau cover - no change
Board wax and chap stick on drivers door seal - no change

    Anyone experiencing similar?

    Thx

    Does it sound like this?

    If so go here.

The few of us that have that tone only hear it between 35-45mph got no love from the dealer. We had to Call Toyota Service Phone: 800-331-4331 Open a ticket. Then they will at least make an attempt to find and solve the issue. This could be a mechanical noise. We won't know until someone looks into it. The dealers are not.

This is crazy how many people are hearing this same thing. Toyota has to address it, no?

who knows. I've always got my stereo rockin' so I've not heard anything. I've turned it off a few times to see if I could hear anything unusual and I did not. Proceeded to crank the stereo back up.

A buddy with an FJ Cruiser had the same noise, he said it was a known issue on the FJ and an easy fix. I forgot what the source was, maybe I'll go over the the FJ forum today and read up on it...

Yeah, I have it also. Has anyone looked at the left front air vent in the dash? Doubt if it's that, but it sure sounds like something in the left front area.

weatherstripping around the doors (x2) and around windshields and glass are often the culprits... you can test it by taping all around the door seal and getting in the pass side... see if the noise is gone.

It occurs with the windows down as well. Sounds like it's coming from the front or wheel well. Others think it's the drive shaft.

My husband's 2013 SR5 AC did this until it got pounded by hail. They took it apart and put it back together after repairs and it was fine.

YEP I noticed that today. When I had the window down I could hear it out side. When I rode in the bed with my ear to the floor I could not hear it so I am leaning toward harmonic turbulence and away from mechanical which is a good thing. I am leaning away from drive shaft and mechanicals.

Sounded like it was coming from front left side. Bugs me and I have a ticket in with Toyota . Local dealer says "they all do it" (and he is mostly right) but that does not mean it should not be found and fixed. So all of you tht have this need to take your trucks in and get Toyota USA involved. Like Bob and I have done.

Thankfully I ordered the JBL system but that's not a fix....

Don't let them off the hook. Make them write it up and take it to Toyota USA, This is how TSBs get written.
