Moved from the Ontario bs thread so I don't forget it.

lasked because 14-bolt disc conversion kits typically can be optioned with calipers with integrated parking brake:

If you are like me and can never figure our how to sharpen a drill bit, hear is a solution, and it works. I had a 5/8 bit that needed sharpening. I totally ruined it trying, went out and got this jig and brought it back to life. It was something like $35 at lee valley. Brake lines on the 14 bolt.[IMG]

I looked into the parking brake issue with the 14 bolt swap. Using the cadallic calipers with internal parking brake seemed easy enough but hear issues with it actually working well. Read online about hooking up an electric parking brake from wilwood or using a line lock with a separate master. Both require having two caliper mounts though. Even looked into pinion/drive shaft parking brakes too. Tmr sells the cadallic calipers cheap enough and it’s always nice to get parts from Napa versus a specific aftermarket establishment.

loving all the updates fyi. All good jnfo and motivation to keep the drive alive.

Thanks. Just a FYI I'm old and forget things so with other builds I totally forgot it all but trying to remember this one. So while I do like posting up this build it's more of a history for my brain
Lol. and BTW I get my motivation for you guys and the things your doing.
as for the Cadillac calipers, wheeled many years with a buddy Jaffo. 1 ton tj and always got a laugh from his 14 bolt with the Cadillac calipers. They literally never worked.

Why don’t you go full drift mode and tee the rear brake line to a hydro brake lever and make a locking pin to hold the brakes on whenever you need.

I think parking brakes will be my last thing to do. Heck i don't even use them now. But thanks that might serve a dual purpose as the dana 300 has the ability to also just have front wheel drive.

Took a little bit more apart today. Some 8 years ago maybe more I rebuilt this axle and I can't believe the grease is like brand new. Kingpins don't look nice but they are. I kinda knew I was wasting my time taking it "all" apart but whatever.

The soaking in tide will work if it's all you have with a little more elbow grease they would be ok. But diesel/ gas or just straight gas is the winner for price and getting the job done.

    PXL_20250128_153010050.jpg

Finally got everything cleaned up and now ready for the wire wheel.

Thanks, the cold weather is holding me back with this axle.
My neighbours think I'm crazy outside grinding and wire wheeling parts in January:rofl:

Reminds me of a K5 Blazer build long ago. Big block Chevy, Dana everything. Also a Dodge Warlock build with Rockwell diff’s. Stuff was amazing.
