Anyone interested in a trip up to Windigo Lake? Thinking either in September squeezed around other events or October after Thanksgiving. It’s approx. 4000km round trip and 6 days for it to be not rushed.

Anxious to go tripping with fellow Tacos ( or whatever), getting RA Motorsports AL skid plates installed Monday.

I'd be interested in going. it's the furthest you can do in Ontario by summer road correct?

@Windigo you have an obligation here for your own namesake

In Ontario yeah. Moosonee is at 51.289 latitude. The Windigo Lake access road goes up to 52.632. Surprisingly it isn't that far north in the overall scheme of things, about the same latitude as Berlin, Germany. Edmonton is at 53.545.

oh yeah the scale of things is rather fun to try and figure out. Much like how my American buddies always assumed i was much further north than they are, which turns out he's further north than we are (Minneapolis) :cookiemonster: also fun trying to explain to them that there are 9 or 10 US states that are equal to or more north than the southern tip of Canaderp. Geography is weird.

If there is enough guaranteed interest in this trip I can plan this for us, it would happen October 11th to the 17th. I have been granted more time off from work and if this trip doesn’t move ahead I will be heading out east for 11days, Oct 11-21. If there is any interested in people going east during that time we can setup a group for that.

I am game, got 7 days off between September 3 to 10. Going to head out there, based on some reports worth checking out. Might not align with others dates, but I'll be planning on going at that time if truck doesn't blow up again.

That's a sweet looking ghost town!! Worth going pages deep on another forum!

@Norilsk with your dates off, there's potential to do a rodeo leg/rondevous.

When I was there they had blocked off the road or way to the town. So did not get to see that.
Also some gestation owner in thunder bay had told us someone bought the whole place.

I plan on bringing MTB, when there is road blockage there is always side trails that can be done on two wheels :bikewheelie:

Both of those ghost towns have First Nations residential schools on them and you are up near First Nations land. Do with that info as you please just a warning to be careful and respectful.
