single cab no tint done and am looking to get it tinted.
I have a few questions for you guys. . .

First of all would you even bother with the 4 inch allowed window strip we can have in CO? The cost difference with is only 16-40 dollars. I believe our legal limit is like 27% by the way.

2nd of all , what percentage would you get all around? I don't want to be blind at night but I do like the darker look.

Lastly I have two brands to compare, one shop uses solar guard 's supreme line of tint and would do the whole truck with the strip for 145 or 119 without the front window strip.
The competitor uses llumar 's formula one brand and would do the whole truck for 160 or 120 without the strip.

What do you all think? examples of your tints and experiences or pictures are greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

first, forget the top strip.. its a waste and if you ever change your windshield there it goes... and you wont even notice it after a week....

2nd get the darkest legally allowed in your state, your tint installer will know that. then... if your guy is, well how would you say..willing to deal.. get the next step darker... thats what i run and no problems yet :anonymous:

I personally run SunTek film in my vehicles, had it in my scion xb for 7 years now , no bubbling or discoloration and its on the taco now 2+ months and looks great. i paid 150$ installed, no strip.. but then again i've... got a guy, so to speak. expect 200$ pay more but not just to pay more, to get a better product. you wont be disappointed.

I disagree with the strip being a waste. I drive to work and back home with the sun in my face. I would pay double for a strip anytime.

really? our visors drop down lower then the "legal" amount the strip could cover, and with the little "extension" that pops out? that is, unless you have something against visors.... ;)

My truck and my 2 previous cars have been Llumar 20%. Personally not a fan of the windshield strip.

i would go as dark as legally allowable, and i definately recommend the windshield strip, they help more than you think, even if it is down to AS1

on my own truck, i have 5% all around, and 32% on the full windshield, yes i know this may start a flame sesh, but i enjoy my privacy and like to keep my personal belongings protected

I bought the pre-cut tint from e-bay and did it myself for like $15 bucks just for the front 2 windows. I have installed the pre-cut tint on 3 vehicles and it is pretty easy. I did remove the door panels to get to the whole window. I have had the tint on our Honda since 2006 and it has held up great and has not faded
and no scratches. Just a thought

I've got 5% all around including entire windshield. Cops in my area are only worried about real crime, not some ticky tack fix it ticket bs. Had this setup on all previous vehicles so my eyes are used to it and can see clearly at night. Always hated the strip. Also Llumar is the way to go.

Same here. Llumar 20% matches very well with the factory rears. Looks good and I haven't been hassled yet...

ETA: if you go Llumar @ 20%, you only really need to do the front 2 windows. It matches that well. I got my front two done at a reputable audio/interior place for <$70 all in.

Yep, really. I guess I should add that my strip is about 8" and it is 5%. Here in Alabama, they don't give you much grief about the strip. The only problem I've had with tint is when I had the whole windshield done in 35% in one of my previous cars.

20% Madico all the way around. It makes the back look like 5% with the privacy glass. I personally do not like the windshield strip. I've had Madico on every vehicle I've owned and since 1997, not even 1% of fading on my oldest ride.
