I wouldn't go that far. The chances of running into some fruits in California are alot higher than most states.

All this being said, I'm thinking about getting 10% done all around...

But I can't understand why people would tint their windshield?

A: I am rather amazed (being a member here now for 2 months) at how many people outright attack other members about "breaking the law" and "you deserve the ticket" comments. I doubt those users would last 2 days on the streets where we live here. Want to bash on people who really commit crime? Go bash on your serial rapists, your drug dealers, the 16 yr old boy who shoots up a restaurant for the $12 tips the waitress has, then blasts her brains open.

This forum sure has A LOT of people with knowledge (of whom I use that info EVERYDAY), but one thing is for sure, some of you guys (you know who you are) can really be petty when it comes to silly things like parking tickets, tinted windows, and speeding or whatever. Quit attacking people and help them out since they are asking, or don't respond at all.

X2, well said. If you can't help remove the tint, go to another site like whiningandcomplaining.com or Iknoweverything.com. Lighten up Francis. People are asking the question here because they want options from experienced Tacoma owners, not a lesson on how to act, or "go search".

Thank You that was pretty much what i was looking for... Not what Nazi meant or where it is legal/illegal... But its pretty funny to see what people came up with. Window tint should be legal in Cali!

When I removed tint in my cars, first I would peel the film off leaving the glue residue on the glass. Then I would get a couple NEW razor blades, and quality glass cleaner (windex). Spray the glass cleaner on the glue (use a lot), then use the razor to scrape it right off. Be careful of your window felts with the blade when you do it.

Oh and currently I have 20% on the fronts. Great match for the rears.

My old car was a 98 jetta, lowered with rims & tires and dark tint all the way around. I was pulled over within a month after tinting the fronts on that. i took it back to the shop that tinted it, and they took it off for me - i dont recall if / how much they charged, it was a while ago.

I have my taco tinted too, and has been tinted since 2006 - never been pulled over in it.

I'm really surprised no mention of the officers safety.

He/she walks up to the vehicle and can't see the occupants pulling a weapon or stashing a weapon.

The way i remeber it, this is why we have the tint laws in the first place, officer safety during a stop..

O.P spimple green will work will start in a corner and keep the back wet as you pull , work slowly and don't over soak, so that it just keeps running down the inside of the door.

Yeah my windows are tinted. The place that tinted my windows ONLY tints windows the legal darkness.
I stand by my comment. If your stupid enough to have your windows tinted darker than law allows then YES you deserve that ticket.

Best way to clean tint off your windows is a razor blade and rubbing alcohol.

I wouldn't say that you DESERVE a ticket if you tint lower than whats legally allowed, but you definitely dont have the right to be a crying bitch if you get caught breaking a law that you knew you were breaking.

Well, this shit has exploded. I'm gonna boil myself down to the simple on the two points that seem to be under discussion:

    1) If you break the law and get cited, thems the breaks. Get legal or get over it.

    2) Most of the LEOs I know are generally nice people and are not looking to ruin your day. That said, as a young male, I seem to get cited every time. Seeing as I only get pulled about an average of once every 4 years, not a huge deal.

California law says you can have 70% tint on front windows. Anything less than that is illegal.
