    Hey guys,

I've been a Police Officer for about 16 years here in Washington. I am currently a Sergeant and I can tell you that the Officers that I supervise and I are way too busy to sit on a road and pull people over for excessive window tint...
Having said that... I have handled a few very bad accidents over the years where excessive tint was a contributing factor. (driver not being able to see properly because of the tint.)

Also, I think the vast majority of people realize that cops are people just like them and we have a very difficult job... I'll be the first to say that there are a few bad apples in this profession that think that this job is a power trip. Most cops are in this profession for the right reasons....

    Thank you.

    Thanks for your service...

I think it really depends on location. The cops in the area I work (805) don't have much to do. I had a CHP officer follow me onto the freeway, after I merged to the left he pulled up to the right of me, then dropped back and swooped around to the left of me, then got behind me and pulled me over. This was after i had already been cited for having tint on the two front windows, and had it removed. He pulled me over for having a small strip of tint across the front windshield. He straight up told me that he's not going to cite me, it just gave him a reason to pull me over and check me out

What's funny, is I had that strip when i got cited for my side windows being tinted previously, then when I went to the police station to have them sign off on the fix-it ticket they didn't say anything about the strip

    Pretty much stock
Thats how 90% of my stops go.

I can ride through some neighborhoods and tell you what lights are suppose to be on in/outside houses at what time and what cars should be in the driveway. Hell i'll probably know your wife is cheating on you along time before you ever find out ;-)

If i see a strange car with so much as a tree air freshner hanging from the rearview mirror i'm gonna stop it....not to write the ticket, just to check it out.

IMO it's just kind of a dick move to tell someone they deserve a ticket when they never complained about the ticket and were asking for help on removing the tint... but w/e. Also "stupid" is a little harsh isn't it? I mean this forum is mainly people with customized/lifted trucks and in most states altering your suspension is illegal.

You have your opinions and I have mine.

OP- when I removed my tint I peeled the tint off and used Goo Gone and razor blades to scrape the adhesive off.

Read the CVC. You can only go 30% if I remember right and the vehicle can not be driven at night.

Sounds like Cali is ridiculous when it comes to tint laws...guess it's a good way to build that revenue when money is tight

to take it off you will need some stainless steel razor blades the ones that are about two inches long and they fit in razor pocket knive's. and get some baby shampoo and water mixed about eight squirts for a waterbottles amt. spray the window and start from the top corner and work down to thebottom. it helps to cut strips in the window and peal them off im stripes. keep the window lubed with the water and baby shampoo.... i tint windows for a livin,,, i know.

by your unedited post, you are the one that sounds offended and why edit it thats a "beaver" move. I thought you were the type to "stand by your comment".

also, you might want to re-read the op's post HE NEVER CRIED OR EVEN COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. Maybe you can understand that since caps seems to be your thing.
