Wassup y’all! I’m thinking of getting 5% tints all around.

What percentage do y’all have? Show pics!

I'd never get 5% UNLESS its goòd quality stuff and your local cops. Aren't already attracted to your vehicle (slammed ect.) Just expected advice.
I've had crap 50% that night vison was jùst awful, gave two blurry headlight dots... no definition i like 3m ceramic @ i think it was around 15% rear and 20 or 25% front and just slightly tìnted windshield. Blocks heat with great outside vision yet without screaming "make my life miserable and give me a ticket!"
Just got the xrunner tinted but no pictures yet. But here is the JettaSportWagon.

Since you live in a state rife with inspections and harsh enforcements, I'd find out what you law allows and go with that.

For ease, a reputable tint shop will know the law.

I have had great success with Llumar films.

URD CAI front: Fox 2.5 w/ reservoir 700lbs coil Camburg UniBall Rear: 2.5 w/ reservoir
I've gotten old and just ended up with Llumar 80% ceramic.

I've went as low as 20% and I hated driving at night because all I saw were bright dots.

As the others said, go to a reputable shop and spend the money.

All I can add is, you HAVE to be able to see out at night. You never know when some yahoo is gonna run a stop sign, with their lights off. Don't ask me how I know.

Here in Texas we are allowed 35% on the front door windows, across the windshield top (limited to 6" down from the top) and no restrictions anywhere
else. I personally have 50% on the back window and back doors and 35% on
the front doors. Texas sun is without mercy!

This is a joke right? 5% and you won’t be able to see in or out for the most part. Since you live in California the state max tint is 70% for the front side windows and only the top 4 inches of the windshield can be tinted, you’re only off by 65%. You can go 5% if you want on the side rear windows and rear window. You won’t be able to drive a block without getting stopped and cited with 5% front windows. No legit shop would tint 5% all around in California. Good luck.

I got 5% installed all around. In the rear they put it over the factory tint. and then fronts are just 5%.
    is it dark? yes.
problem during the day? not for me.
at night? yes its a problem. i open the windows when i pull up to intersections.
would i do it again? probably not.

I love that nobody can see inside the truck. so you get some privacy that way. Plus i take my breaks at work in the truck. so its nice.

living in Sacramento, California. No issues over the last 3-4 years since i had the truck.

Mine is 3m ceramic, 20% total all around. Nothing at all on the windshield. I have been in cars with tint on the windshield at night, and it is a hard pass for me. Good tint is worth every penny, IMO. My wife finally wanted her car done and was worried 20% might be too dark. She rolled the dice, went with 20%, and is so glad she did. Neither of us have any issue identifying headlights through the tinted windows. I think it is easier to see a bright outside light from inside a dark space then just saying "20%" suggests. Environment could have something to do with it, too I live in the sticks with no ambient lighting, but I never noticed an issue in towns or anything.

I used to have really dark tint on my daily. Driving at night was fucking awful and you're just asking to get harassed by CHP.

Just fyi your tint is illegal in California, at least the front and front side windows are way illegal. You are fortunate you haven’t been tagged for it. CHP and city motors are the ones who’ll nail you for it, they look for that. I’m not trying to hassle you just saying you’re riding dirty you’ll likely get caught sometime.

Anything less than 5% isn't worth it. Dark tint is good road rage protection. When you get pulled over, roll your windows down. Buy a precut preshrunk kit and do whatever you want.

I’m aware of that. I know it is darker than the legal limit. And yes, I will probably get pulled over sooner or later.

This is something me and my wife wanted to do when we bought the truck. Privacy.

it did save me one time. We had a BB gun shooter here in Sacramento. Someone would drive around and shoot at peoples cars on the highway. It made the news it was happening so often. I was one of the people that were shot at. They shot my passenger front window. The tint held the glass together. If it wasn’t for the tint, the glass would of shattered all over the interior

I was too confused to figure out what happened. Did someone shoot from the side of the freeway? Or was it a car?
Later on I reviewed my dash cam and there was a beat up van next to me that had its window open right next to me. Betting it was them.

Mine is all 20%. Before my last windshield chip I also had 40% on the windshield. It wasn’t great at night. Night + rain was borderline impossible if there weren’t street lights.

I drive a friends truck that was 5% everywhere with 20% on the windshield. I had to roll the window down in the daytime.

I miss the windshield tint but 20% is perfect. I have a very noticeable truck and haven’t gotten in trouble yet (Bay Area).

i just went with Xpel cermaic tint.

i did the front-sides with 35% and the windshield with 70%. my side ended up just a touch lighter than the factory rear windows. i am okay with that.
