I'm one of the rare cats too. LOL! I would have the outside stick-ons if I had them on my truck. Had them on all my other trucks. You have a little more room to slide a microfiber towel up under them when I was drying my truck after washing it.

Yeah, that's a lot of the reason I decided to go with the outside stick-on ones... Just one of those 'What If' things, somewhere on down the road. I try to think about a lot of things of 'OK .. Sometime in the future, if/when I have to do this again, how much of a PITA am I gonna be looking at?' .. LOL!
If the sticky-back 3M stuff on the AVS ones is a good as they claim .. and because I know from the past of removing the 3M stuff on other things .. You damn-near need a jack-hammer to get it off... I'd assume that the plastic 'vent' part would disintegrate long before the 3M stuff ever lets loose.
(VERY nice rig BTW ..:thumbsup::thumbsup:)

Yeah. I generally try to avoid anything that might mess with weather-stripping. Probably because I've done a few resto's on older rigs and know what a PITA it is to replace and get juuuuust right. I try to treat weather-stripping like newborn puppies.. LOL!

The ones on the outside are not hard to remove. Best way is fishing line and some adhesive remover for anything left behind.
I've seen the in channel ones pulled out and the adhesive tape all came out with the visor.

Complete that great garage with some race deck flooring. It'll completely change the look and feel and provide a very nice finishing touch.

That is pretty cool. I have a small collection of bicentennial plates from PA and a few other states. I picked up at flee markets and ebay. I like them but I need to display them in my office better since i don't have a garage.

I know a guy that works at one of the local body shops and I had a 2003 Dodge Dakota that had the stick-ons and the tape had pieces missing but the vent shades were still sticking tight. Anyhow I mentioned the condition of the tape to him one day and he told me when I wanted to put some new vent shades on just to bring it in. I would never mess with the headache of taking the tape off the paint. Instead I would let the local body shop do it for me. LOL!

But yeah you are right about the tape messing up the window weather stripping. I have seen many a used vehicles with chunks of weather stripping gone.

Fishing line... Is there anything it can't do? LOL!
(Anyone whose ever used, say #20 test, fishing line to install a new rear seal on the back window of a pick-um-up knows what I mean .. :D )

Try using peanut butter on the adhesive. Rub it on and let it sit. Then wipe it off with a wash cloth. May take a few times. We do this at work to clean up equipment when taking things off like the residue from inventory stickers

I've gotten the goo off of other stuff fairly easy before.. 'Goo Gone' works very well, as does WD-40 ... But you have to have some patience. I've taken badges off rigs that are 40 years old and it usually means wetting a paper towel with either, sticking it on the goo and letting it sit for hours or sometimes a day. After it gets soft enough, you can usually just scrap it off with yer thumbnail.

Peanut butter! Really! I hadn't heard of that trick before! (Does the 'natural' kind with the extra oily stuff on top work better than 'regular' PB?) ... I've always used Goo Gone or WD-40 soaked on a hunk of paper towel and stuck it on the gunk that needs removed.
Learn something new every day, right? LOL!

Almost as useful as duct tape and wd-40

LOL! Like the old funny line of 'If it moves and shouldn't .. Duct tape .. If it doesn't move and should .. WD-40..' ;)

I’d love to but we’re probably going to be moving within a year or so.

Well! These are working great! I put my stick-on ones on the other day and am very pleased. I was kinda' doubting how well they'd work as .. Well there's just not a whole lot too them. It was raining here yesterday, so I put them to the test. I could roll the window down about 3-4" before any rain water started to dribble in. Score! I also like that I can roll the window +- about 1/2 way down before I get any kind of wind blasting me in the face. Double score! This is especially great as if you like to smoke an occasional cigar while driving, there's no wind blasting ash all over the inside of yer rig..
