Windows 8 was a flop for the business environment because it did't offer anything over windows 7 for compatibility, ease of use, or security. For home users like me that game occasionally windows 8 was a faster, better overall, environment with some annoying changes that were mostly fixed in 8.1 . To be honest I never had any compatibility issues between 7 and 8, and I ran 8 from the first month it was out.

That all being said I've heard some driver horror stories already with Windows 10. Time will tell, but the feature set, lower draw on resources, and better UI are exciting to me. Not to mention future levels of DirectX support.

Win 10 is now an official release. No longer a beta, I have been using the beta since it was first released. I love it, there were a couple features that have been tweaked as the OS evolved. It is smoother and faster than Win7 and inherits some of the better features of win8. It doesn't seem to be as much of resource hog as previous windows systems. If you use IE, the new internet browser is called Microsoft Edge. It is much faster for overall internet usage, not as bloated as previous versions of IE. It takes some getting use to the slightly different layout of the OS and browser, it gives you back the desktop(allows for multiple desktops for other users or profiles) and win7 features and adds the apps of win8. I think it will really be a useful OS across multiple platforms, especially if you use a all in one tablet/laptop with touch capabilities. That's just my .02.

You can actually tile the windows like in the older windows 3.0 versions with a simple click and swipe.

Takes awhile to download iso file depending on your internet speed. It's not overly complicated to install.

Yes, I hated that dam start window of 8. It's worked ok if you had a touch screen, but clunky as hell with a mouse or touch pad.

So ditching the Start Window should make win 10 a win for you right?

It helped. I have used every version of windows since the early days of the first dos/windows and every beta that I could get my hands on. Windows 95 was a decent step forward, Windows MIL and Vista were blah! Win XP and 7 was one the better efforts in a long time. I liked the NT versions. Windows 8 blew donkey balls and 8.1 was just a major patch to keep the lynch mob away from Microsoft.

You can go into the recovery section of the systems section and click on "revert to windows 7"
