Vista is awesome. I know it has some basic programming flaws, but it is light years ahead of XP. Everything is faster, and man is it gorgeous.

I got xp 64but, but only because i use high demanding memory programs, like 3d studio, so i use 4gb of ram, and yes, there's a lot of difference in performance, but, only 64bit native programs will use the full advantage of 64bit, the other programs will run as 32 bit, because windows has an emulator....

besides, x64 seems a lot more stable than xp, but the down side, is that MS offers little to none support, and there is mroe difficult to find drivers for x64, like the HP mofos, i guess they want us to switch to vista x64.... hell no...

thanks for all the responses...I'm still having some problems deciding

Actually, lately I've been running xp 32 sp3, windows home server, xp for netbook, and I have an order in for a few copies of Windows 7.

that would work fine for it. I'm running a low power intel atom motherboard. I think it is 1.6 ghz.

Windows server works good, but I'm not using it to its fullest possibilities. I don't like/trust their backup system for what I'm doing, so I run backups on my PC's to the server. It is a bit confusing. I spent a lot of time researching what home server does and then deciding what I wanted it to do.
