I recently tried out the McKee's High Performance Glass Restorer (from Autogeek) and followed it up with Aquapel. The results blew me away.

I took a road trip last week. The windshield was COVERED in bug splatter from 4 hours of night time driving. I mean totally covered. I never tried clearing them with the windshield wipers.

Well, I forgot to wash the windshield after arrival at my destination and the bugs BAKED in 90° heat and direct sunlight for 4 days.

Before coming home, I hit the glass with some run of the mill glass cleaner and to my surprise... the bugs wiped off effortlessly! I've used each product independently before but never back to back. It must have been the deep cleaning with the glass restorer that allowed a really good bonding of the Aquapel. The results with the bug splatter was nothing short of remarkable.

If you deal with bugs and summer heat... try this combo!

good to know, thanks for the review. Ive been looking for an alternative. I fell out of love with rain x due to wiper chatter that starts shortly after. Speaking of, can you speak to any chatter from this combo?

On a dry windshield they'll chatter. In rain, no chatter, unless you just don't have enough water on the glass. Even then it's not bad. The beading of Aquapel is totally different than rainX. It's not quite as fast rolling but much better and more clear. No hazing as it wears like rainX does.

Aquapel is great, lasts a lot longer than rainx in my opinion.

I'm absolutely amazed how long it lasts. I applied it last summer and it was still going strong last week when I polished the glass and reapplied the Aquapel. Not even a slight sign of it's fading away. And it never gives you that hazy look like RainX does when it begins to fail.

It is a semi-permanent coating that’s why. It is nothing like cheapo Rain-X.

Which is why you should use with care. Coatings can mean you can never do a chip repair on the coated glass, because the adhesive they use will just come right out.

Between applications I would polish the glass like you did. Helps prevent a build up of the product.

It's rained here nearly every day for over a month. Put Aquapel on the windshield last Sunday and it hasn't rained for 5 days.

    Amazing stuff.
