Anybody else have this problem? Every morning this weird blotchy condensation mist covers my windshield. I run wipers with fluid and it just comes back until I've been driving for a few minutes. Very annoying and very difficult to see. Wife had something similar on her 2011 4Runner for a while also. Never a problem on my 04 or any other car for that matter. Does Toyota do something weird to the windows now? Brand new truck.

Wonder if that isn't some kind of oil that got on the windshield and didn't clean off all the way? Take it to the dealer.

If its hard to remove such as water spots at times with window cleaner try #0000 steel wool.It will not scratch your windshield.Just spray your windshield with glass cleaner and rub the steel wool across the window surface.

I wonder if maybe it's residue from plastic covering the windshield during transport? It looks like the pattern on my new bathroom mirror that was covered with a thin blue plastic film when I took it out of the box. It had some kind of adhesive on it and it was stuck on to protect the mirror. I pulled it off after the mirror was installed. Didn't really notice anything at first, but when I hit it with windex, it showed a pattern similar to your windshield. I'd hit your windshield with a very clean towel and soapy water. And scrub it real good. And then a good rinse and clean it with window cleaner. I bet it will go away eventually just from weathering outdoors.

Use a clay bar on it with detail spray, that will get rid of it.

Just thought I would let you know my new '15 does the exact same thing in the AM lol. I figured it was just the humid Florida weather at first. It bothers me but I am almost certain now it is some sort of residue left over from manufacturing or plastic packaging like stated above. I haven't really detailed my truck yet but I had planned on hitting the windshield real good when I do. I am also gonna drain the washer fluid and put the rainX brand in. It makes a huge difference IMO.

It seems RainX and Shaving Cream are the answer:

Biggest thing is getting the residue off the glass that's causing the splotches. Then Rain-X washer fluid will help down the road.

Yeah I'm waiting for my Toyota junk windshield fluid to run out. Never, ever seen it get a single bug spot off the windshield. Sucks. Got a bottle of RainX washer fluid in the garage waiting to go. Much better stuff - and dirt cheap.

Appreciate it. I thought it was the Fl weather also but have never had this issue before. Gonna do the clay bar and rain x.

I would use Stoner Invisible Glass to clean, clay bar, and then clean again with Stoner Invisible Glass (using microfiber clothes). If that does not solve your problem you might have to lightly polish and wax your glass.

I can share a recent story about windshield condensation. This is the view through my windshield every morning on my way to work. See the small child running in front of my truck? Neither can I. I have twice reported the problem with my 2015 Tacoma PreRunner as a safety issue. When not on defrost mode, the dashboard vent emits air conditioned air onto the windshield causing condensation on the outside of the windshield restricting vision. The dealership witnessed the condensation and blames it on the climate in Florida. I've been driving in Florida for over 45 years and never seen such a thing. The service team at the dealership in Stuart FL, and Factory Field Rep. who never looked at the vehicle, claims this is how HVAC is designed so there is no problem. Really?

Yea my '15 is doing the same thing. I'm used to it fogging up in morning around here, but the blotchy spots didn't seemed right. I've cleaned my window with good window cleaner several times. Guess I'll try some steel wool next time.

Haven't noticed it on my 2015 but I am not a morning person. I'll keep an eye out for it.

The 0000 steel wool gets the windshield very clean.

This is just my experience so YMMV. Every time I have experienced this problem it has been caused by a thin film of lubricant. Usually, the source of this lubricant has been from the road during, or after it rains. Sometimes, when I have been careless about using a clean rag/mit/microfiber to wash the windows, especially the windshield, I have had this problem. The lubricant came from the dirty rag/mit/microfiber. Also, when I have applied Rain-X without thoroughly cleaning the windows with alcohol, as Rain-X recommends, this problem is even more pronounced. Long story short, it's oil film splashing onto the windshield from the road. Try cleaning the windows with alcohol. Works for me every time.

Edit: Don't forget to clean your wiper blades as well.
