windshield cracked by rock help.....

    today i was driving and a rock hit the bottom right corner of my windshield and now by the time i got home the chip has become a 6 inch long crack..
    what can i do to save the windshield????

    Nothing, it needs to be replaced. In Mass it is covered under your ins, but a lot of places you have to have comprehensive coverage.

    you can buy a gel-like substance kit at walmart. or you can call safelite and see what they can do. you probably should replace the windshield soon though

    Don't have any vibrations, drive over any bumps or let it freeze and thaw. Other than that the crack shouldn't get any bigger. (in other words - don't move the truck)


    ........you either live with the crack going across until it terminates on the other side or get a new window.

    safelite quoted me $252.95 using a random LI zip code. go here for an instant, and more accurate quote. said somewhere if the crack is smaller than a dollar bill it can be repaired

    Shop around locally. I have a windsheild guy I go through for my shop and so far, I haven't had one over $175. I'm not talking chinese "warbly" glass either. He comes to me, he's fast, and he guarantees no leaks. You can probably find someone (small business) locally like that.

    oh dam... i see that happened to you also.....i have had like a thousand rocks ding my windshield but thus one cracked it.....oh well im gonna go drill a small hole in front of the crack and see if that stops it i have nothing to loose......
    hey so how has your truck been since that scuba day in wharton????
    when is the next one????...i wana get a weekend camping trip to vt soon....
    i have some nice forest areas and roads all free u can wheel camp shoot all legally.....its only 3 1/2 hours away
