A friend/ co-worker cracked his 1st gen windsheild trying to squish a mosquito...

Knock on wood... my '06 has 301,000 miles and still has the original windsheild with no cracks...

Yeah, knock on wood... it will probably get cracked going home today now that I've bragged about it...

Here is what the owner of a large glass outfit told me. First Tacoma's are not alone, he told me MB, at least in his shop were the winners but Toyota was not far behind. They crack where the glass is glued to the body work it's not a big area just below the wipers. His reasoning was there is no give where it is glued in. He explained the glass to some extent is flexible but not where it is glued in, his "fix" particularly on the MB was a clear plastic film at the very bottom of the glass. Take that for what it's worth before I had 25K on my 2011 I had 2 windshields replaced the 3rd is now at 130K with a 2 1/2 inch of clear plastic film at the very bottom.

A week after a moderate sized rock chip, my windshield started to crack. The thing is, I was able to watch the crack progress as I was driving.

It went halfway up the windshield by the end of the day. Pain.
