    Greetings all,

My 2010 Tacoma started making rattling noises near the right corner of the windshield and the dash a few months back. It seems like it only happened on hot days. Every little bump I'd go over, it would creak/rattle. Over the winter here in the NW it didn't get hot at all, so it wasn't a problem. Now that spring is around, the rattling/creaking is really annoying, and my truck is now at 37k and is out of warranty.

At first I thought it was rattling in the dash, near the glove box, so I went in there and wrapped foam tape around the wire harness and any lose components. That didn't do the trick.

Yesterday it was about 75 degrees and the creaking was nonstop. I had my girlfriend drive the truck, while I investigated where the noise was coming from.

The noise is actually from the windshield. It's coming from the top right corner. I can push on the windshield and make the creaking noise.

I found the TSB for the windshield creaking / rattling. I talked to the dealership about it, and they said I'm out of luck because I'm out of warranty. Has anybody fixed this problem on their own?

I talked to Toyota, and they told me to go into the dealership and see what they're willing to do... but so far, the dealer quoted me $308 to fix the problem. I'll run in there and talk to them and see what they can do, but it doesn't sound too promissing so far. I'll report back after I run to the dealer in the next day or two.

Might try pulling the trim from the windshield and re-sealing it. Or a new windshield if your insurance covers it. IIRC it may have been a faulty application of sealant from the factory.

Mine makes a creaking sound too but I haven't been able to find it. I will see if its the windshield. If it is I'd hate for a rock to damage it

I have the same noise as the OP on my 2009. It only makes the noise on hot days and it's on the passenger side upper glass area. I've not had time to rip the headliner down so I've just been ignoring the noise for now. Although I've investigated the glass I'll revisit that and see if I can reproduce the noise as well.

For the guys that are having similar issues, try pushing on the windshield from the inside out on a hot day. Mine will creak with any pressure I apply to the windshield.

Subd, I too have a rattle or vib backing up in my garage or going real slow with low rpms. It sounds like its behind the glove box. I've took all the crap out of the glovebox and it still makes the noise so count that out.
I just had my windshield replaced today so ill see tomorrow if it still rattles.;)

    Thanks,

    Brett

yes... ticking, creaking, rattling. It sounds like a plastic rattling sound.

I've emptied out everything in my truck to isolate the sound, but couldn't quite figure it out, because I'm always the driver when it happends. I had my GF drive for me to figure it out. It only took two minutes and I figured out it was the windshield.

Have any of you guys found a solution for this problem? I'm having the same issue and was thinking about replacing the seal. Thanks!
