The issue with many insurance recommended windshield replacements is that the glass is super wavy. I've had windshields that looked like a bunch of flat panels were fused together. After some research I found 2 companies that had a smooth windshield. Safelite is one and the other (and better) was Glass America. My insurance, State Farm, accepts both companies and will pay with no deductible. I got good at glass repair when I was working. I worked off a freeway exit that has 5 rock quarries using it. Lots of spilled rocks on the freeway around. I usually got 2 windshields a year and about 4-5 rock chip repairs.
