I had mine 3 days and @ 89 miles I got a chip. @ 93 miles it turned into a nice crack. Now it's all the way across the windshield. I am waiting till the snow is done before I get it fixed. IMG_20170203_093545759_HDR_wm.jpg

Umm... no. My 2nd gen was on it's 2nd windshield when I traded it, and THAT one had two filled chips in it, one that had occurred THE DAY AFTER I had replaced the mother ******* windshield!

According to my insurance guy this is not a 3rd gen issue, nor is it a Toyota issue. They are making windshields thinner now to cut down on weight. Unfortunately they are so thin they're prone to breaking and Farmers is now upping the deductible for windshield replacement.

My wife's 2014 Fusion is also on it's 2nd windshield.

PSA...Looks like a lot people like to tailgate the cars in front of them. Leave a few seconds following distance between you and the car in front and I bet your rock chips will go down considerably. I only point this out, because I run a shop for an OTR trucking company. We go through lots of windshields, and more often than not its because of tailgating.

Okay, well my 11, 15, 16 and 17 never had a crack or chip....like I said its not some big conspiracy theory that is a defective piece of glass, etc. as others allude here to. In fact my 08 was the only one that developed a chip and then crack over a week. But nope, definitely weak/defective new glass...

Gotcha. Sometimes I read things the wrong way, damn interwebs problem. I think some just get unlucky and get a chip/crack, and some may have not had the best install, etc. and they're twerked just enough to put more stress on it. Like the 2 guys who had exploding sunroofs.

Chipped, cracked, and replaced a week ago. Got a replacement SafeLite windshield. Maybe it'll be better.

In my 2nd gen, less than 24 hours after replacing the windshield, my wife and I were driving north on a 2 lane road and a dump truck was heading south. I could SEE the rock coming off of him, saw it bouce, and WHAP! Hit me right between the eyes. My wife has never seen me that mad.

    Flippin thin glass.

Yep, almost same thing with my 08. Merging on highway, dude refused to merge and kept in the shoulder, kicked up a shit ton of rocks at me, 3 chips, NJ drivers, so glad I have orders.

Damn. I didn't even really care about my cracked windshield. Dad wanted me to replace it so he paid for it.

I was hoping maybe the after market windshield was better.

Funny you said this because I was in the far right lane on the highway when a semi passed me in the middle lane. As he got past me, a rock kicked up and hit my windshield. The only way I could have avoided that would have been to leave my truck in the driveway. Tailgating? Not a chance. I have had a clean CDL for over 25 years. I keep my distance but you can't help it if someone passes you. Maybe I just need to drive faster...

still on my 2nd windshield (first one cracked within weeks of taking delivery - ironically on a cold day when I first turned on the defrost...) and the current one already has scratches all over it, this using high quality microfiber - the same I've used on our other vehicles for years with incredible results. windshields are probably going to become part of "regular maintenance" for these trucks!

    add me too the list

Doubt the dealer will do anything for it.
Guess I'll try getting it repaired? Was reading on speedyglass that if its within 4cm to the edge it can't be repaired. Looks close, haven't measured.
    20170502_202805.jpg

This just happened while driving home. Dealer is opened till 9pm, called (8 40ish) and got some chinese guy that I could barely understand. Said something about only covered under warranty if its a pressure crack, not a chip. So have a feeling this won't be warrantied.

Might also call my insurance broker to find out if I even have glass coverage etc.

Windshields are a sore subject for me.

Got a chip, had it filled and it turned into a crack which went across the windshield.

Had it replaced. Glass company used non-OEM glass which looked awful and they did $800 worth of scratches to the pillar. Found out later because of the age they should have used OEM.

Windshield ended up leaking like a sieve. Got it replaced with an OEM unit which also leaked. Had it resealed and it still leaks. I'm awaiting another crack at it. I'm going to stress they look at the window channel this time. The garbage original replacement probably caused all the issues. I will then go after them for all the new scratches put in over the various installs and reseals. Ugh.
