My truck is getting repainted pretty soon and I will replace the rubber windshield molding thing (cooked and cracked by the sun and causes my windshield to leak).

Stealership is $$$ (a hundred bucks here), so where's a good place to get it?

I see they have it on rockauto for much less (part#WFSF799). It is any good? Someone ever tried it? They show a generic picture, so that's why I ask. I don't want something that half-fits and my windshield starts leaking again....

you talking about winshield or molding? My windshield is fine, but it's leaking in the upper corner, driver's side. Ill try to put a bead of silicon on the glue seam then put back the new molding.

If it doesn't do any good, well, I'll have my windshield removed then put back in:notsure:

Anyway, I'll see what the bodyshop guy says. If he has to remove windshield, well, problem solved...

The molding is glued in with the windshield. It will need to be cut out and replaced( the seal) . It's purpose is only to protect the glue and cut down wind noise.

I have heard that shoe goo works as weatherstrip adhesive. I'm having the same issue with my '07, and thinking about doing this. Anyone have experience with using shoe goo for this purpose? I know there are several different manufacturers that make weatherstrip adhesive, but I have shoe goo, so it doesn't make sense in my head to spend $15 on a product that I will use 1/50th of and the rest dry out. Thoughts?

Thats a really good question. I don't know. It should work, as shoes soles are rubber, but I don't know how it will react with the car paint. Some stuff can eat up paint, so you wouldn't want it to happen to your truck...

Don't do it on the truck, in case it goes wrong or fails. The only way you can "safely" test it would be if you try it on a piece of body panel and a leftover weatherstrip piece....

Here is an update of my shoe goo spot-test. I put some shoe goo on an extra body part that I had laying around in my garage, and stuck some house weather strip to it.
Well, after about three weeks, I peeled it off, and there is no paint damage. I don't have any desire to do a long term spot test, so I will go ahead and use this as a windshield sealant on my DD. Will post pics and results as I remember.
