    It's getting there.
I shopped around for a window replacement when the dealer told me it was going to be 750... I can't even remember what I got it done for, but I have a friend with a body shop and I think it was under 300. Window seems very close to factory to me, even has my go pro mount.

My receipt for Safelite today was $459. My deductible was $250. Strange that your quote is $1K.

I had some chips repaired in my 2007 and wasn't very happy with the results. You could definitely still notice them but I guess it helped prevent the windshield from cracking any further.

My insurance company views a cracked windshield as a safety hazard and will replace it up to twice a year without it costing me a deductible.

2018+ has to be recalibrated for TSS after replacement.

Also makes a difference if you use OEM glass. OEM on my 17 was over $500 just for the glass.

AH, the TSS makes sense. I do not have that in my 2017 obviously. I will say that Safelite did a great job. I see no issues at all and can't tell it was ever touched outside of the crystal clear new windshield. Somebody asked me if the Go Pro mount was included in the aftermarket windshield, Yes, it was.

They replaced my rear window and did $6000+ in damage to my truck...

edit: OEM windshield was $567 + labor

its hit and miss with them. did you take it or did they come to you? Ive found they send the best techs on the road vs the ones at the shop. And i watch them like a hawk.

replacing a windshield is a nightmare so if you can avoid it, dont do it. i always stretch out the replacement as long as I can even though I have the insurance.

edit: just saw its a rear, SOL on that one. Those usually shatter immediately, because something like a ladder goes through it.

Took it to the shop, it was December in the midwest so needed somewhere heated to do the work so it would seal and cure properly.

I learned a lot about them during this disaster.

I will say they took care of it without much hassle but it never should have been an issue in the first place. I was without my truck for 10 days to fix their screw up.

This is the key though. Theres alot of places that wont do that. If you have problem they are the people you want to have the problem with regardless of why it happened.

But I am in texas I forget that other areas dont have the weather we do.

How is it even possible to do 6K in damage replacing a windshield? Safelite has been great for me and they are who USAA always recommends so that's where I usually go. My 2018 was $760 if my insurance wasn't paying for it and that included the calibration required for the TSS.

I would assume they got on the roof and dented it.

Sorry about the damage op, same thing happened to me a few months ago. If you do have to replace the whole windshield, insist on oem pilkington glass. Aftermarket windshields do not match the exact contours of the original and be a catalyst for further issues. I researched this relentlessly when a rock caused a 6” + crack on my windshield. Insurance agreed to pay for a new oem windshield with go pro mount after I expressed my concern. Hope that is helpful.

Had my rear window replaced after it got broken out. Should have been <$500 if it had been done properly. Safelite is who most insurance companies recommend because they are national and cheap - as I found out NOT because of the quality of work. The techs are sent to a one day training class and then they turn them loose.

You are good at this game. Basically about everything they could do wrong, they did.

The window wasn't put in correctly and sealed up, it wasn't flush with the cab like it should be. In the process, they scratched the paint really bad in multiple places and dented the rear of the cab. They also destroyed all the plastics in the rear of the cab. They basically just shoved them in and hoped they snapped in which resulted in destroying the clips on every piece they removed and the plastics were scratched up in a bunch of spots.

Truck was 6 months old when all this happened.

The Toyota glass isn't reusable, so if it comes out you have to put in a new one. Due to the damage, they removed the front and rear window to repaint the cab and fix the dent. This also required removal of the box to blend the cab paint. All the plastic was replaced behind the front seats.

I had a similar problem with linex. Got a bedliner installed on a silverado and when they were sanding down the top of the bed they scratched the cab underneath the rear window. The store refused the damages and I had to fight with them quite a bit to get them to pay. After you have a fight like that working with someone that will cover their work is worth its weight in gold.
