Question for those still monitoring this thread -

If the glass companies list a separate part number for 05-11, 12-15, and 16+, will the 05-11 and 16+ fit my 2015? I'm starting to wonder if the glass company I'm using is only trying to find a match for '12-'15, when they could expand the search and possibly get some better sourced glass.

Example below where I was seeing if Carlex had a matching part number, you can see how '12-'15 is just absent.

Well I couldn't help it and started inspecting the work that the 1st shop did.. pulled up the molding on the sides of the glass and they left a ton of scratches on the paint underneath. Does not appear they used the black primer to seal off scratches from the urethane removal.

Calling it quits with them and finding a new shop next week. I know a lot of folks here advocate for 'take it back, let them fix it' but this is such an elementary step that if they can't even do this, then I just can't trust them. They can have their money It shouldn't be this hard to get an incredibly common procedure done on a very common vehicle... :annoyed:

Funny thing is, based on the online reviews of this place, it has the most activity and the best rating in the ENTIRE metro... o_O

What if the reviews are written by people who don't have a clue
not to mention possibly internal people within the company making accounts to write false reviews

    Yes the 2005-11 (FW02500GBN), 2012-15 (FW03434GBN), and 2016-17 (FW04108GTY, FW04299GTY) will fit.

2018-up (FW04751GTY) won't work due to the added options of (LDWS)(high beam assist)(w/forward collision alert)

The difference between the FW02500 and FW03434 is that the FW03434 has a small notch in the top of rearview mirror button that the mirror attaches to. Original mirrors will still remount.

The FW04108GTY and FW04299GTY come with the top and side moldings pre-attached to the glass. Also the FW4108GTY comes with action camera mount. Both are acoustic interlayer and have the same mirror button as FW3434. again the original mirrors will still remount

I know this because I just recently bought a 2015 Tacoma that had a Fuyao windshield with no shade. Being that I've been doing auto glass replacement for over 25 years. I wanted to make sure some hack didn't butcher the pitchweld. So I ordered nine different windshields from Pilkington, PGW and Mygrant.....I ended up installing the FW2500GB with the 2500RC rain channel molding. Because I was looking for the darkest OE style sun shade. If the FW04108GTY or FW04299GTY offered a sun shade I would have put one in.

I couldn't have asked for a better response!

Any chance you can share pics of what you ended up installing? What manufacturer glass did you end up going with? (and is it optically decent or a wavy mess?)

I have also bookmarked your website in case I am in your area some day and need a new windshield.

I can possibly grab a pic tomorrow. I ended up installing the PGW FW02500GBN that was manufactured by Shenzhen Benson Automobile Glass DOT#563 and distortion free.

The sad part is from Pilkington, PGW, and Mygrant all the 12-15 FW03434 was manufactured by XYG. :frusty: So my only choices was a Fuyao FW02500GBN from Mygrant, the Benson from PGW or go with the FW04299GTY and add a tint film as the shade (with I'm not a fan of)

I'm really glad you said this, as it echoes what all my local glass shops have been telling me. Tomorrow I go in to get a Fuyao windshield that is supposed to have a USA DOT code, so hopefully it'll be decent. This was my only option since there are zero Pilkington options for the FW03434 that aren't DOT 563. (TriVal would be the brand Pilk is selling these under now)

This is still true btw, they don't make it but do distribute. I had my passenger side access cab window busted out two months ago so some shithead could steal my aftermarket stereo, Safelite put a Fuyao in and I can't tell the difference but it's not like I stare out that one all the time either. Good luck OP!

Just had mine replaced by Safelite (USAA). I took a hit from a rock about the size of a golf ball when I was doing 70+ on the hiway directly in front of me. The installer used Fuyao glass. He said it was the same as OEM without the trademark stamp. The glass is fine and is tinted exactly like the OEM. Since all glass has to meet DOT standards I don't know why people get so worked up about replacement glass. I don't know what the cost would have been as I have zero deductible.

New windshield is in. The new shop I picked did an excellent job on it and I got to watch them do the work. They actually use a string device to cut the old glass out, so there's zero risk of those knives or sawzalls gouging away at the body.

The new windshield is Fuyao DOT 1038, which is made in the USA at a plant in Morraine, Ohio. For aftermarket glass, it's more than adequate with 95% of the clarity of the OEM Pilkington windshield. Dot matrix design, mirror mount, and shade band at top all resemble OEM.

How does one get insurance to pay for the right glass?
I hear in some state's it's covered by law.
In which case, regardless, I imagine their "stock" offer will be to set up a Shitlite appointment, hoping people fall for it as most probably do. Sorry I meant "Safelite"

Two in mine I asked a friend that owned 3 glass shops in Mass. same crack same basic place. He said they had the same issues on MB (hate to think what that costs) he said because the glass has no give in that area because it's glued in it cracks it, the fix? a strip of aircraft clear tape about 3-4" up I'm still using the same glass after replacing 2 early on every one cracked in the same place just above the wipers.

Doesn't seem to matter if the glass is stamped Toyota or not.
Only whether or not it's a good quality part.

Insurance offers either a xxxx deductible for glass coverage (to lower monthly premiums),
or a 0-deductible option, with slightly higher premiums/monthly payments.
Option number two seems worth it. Pay an extra $10 a month to get a new windshield.

Though I did not look into the contract to see if I can find info on the specifics such as which glass company they'd try to go with, which glass itself, etc.

Exactly. The windshield in my 2011 cracked back in March. I have $150 deductible, and the replacement was $212 from a local glass shop. I just wrote them a check, and didn't even file with my insurance. I figured that for $62, why risk my premiums going up for filing a claim. My replacement windshield was made by Xinyi Glass, which is a Chinese glass company, but the glass looks fine to me from the drivers seat, I don't notice any bothersome distortions. The old one did crack right at the right side wiper, but there appeared to be a star bullseye that it spread from. I think something hit it there, rather than cracking from stress.
