Safelite is shit glass, find a reputable shop and see what they offer. Can’t go wrong with Pilkington.

I've replaced the windshield on my Tacoma like 4 or 5 times. All through Safelite. I don't remember when the factory glass cracked, but I'm pretty sure it was within a year of buying it. Safelite glass cracked around the same time I guess.

They did replace one after like a week because they messed up on the seal in one corner, but that was free from them and I didn't need to include my insurance.

I have an appointment next Thursday to fill a couple chips I got too. The other 2 chips that are currently on my Safelite glass are from last year sometime.

Idk what it is, but I don't have good luck with glass on my Tacoma. Not much this year, but I also haven't driven around outside of my city much.

I replaced the windshield on my 2nd gen last year, $265 by a local shop. They came to my work, got it done in about 20 minutes.
    No complains.

Don’t bother with oem the factory windshields suck in these trucks . They crack instantly from any rock chip .

When i purchased my truck 4 years ago, it had a sticker in the windshield from american warrior auto glass.
Since then i've had a few small cracks happen. These cracks usually expand in the summer from the heat, at least thats been my past experience with windshields in AZ. These cracks haven't for whatever reason. I feel like this is decent glass. In case anyone in AZ in interested here is their link https://www.americanwarriorautoglass.com/. Whenever i have to replace it, i'll check to see if my insurance works with them first.

Pilkington. They make the glass for Toyota. Order it through local glass dealer. Hella cheaper than Toyota. Just doesn’t say Toyota. I’m not willing to pay for a small name in the corner of the glass.

Just had my SR5 (no sensors) done for 324 with Tax in GA through safelite. I dropped it off and picked it up.

Finally got my OEM Windshield. Safelite upped the price “day of” to $1400 for an AFTERMARKET windshield, so I went to a neighborhood shop instead.

Neighborhood shop charged $1250 installed for an OEM.

I can definitely tell the difference between OEM and the aftermarket that Safelite had in stock.

    Your mileage may vary.

And what was that difference exactly?
Brands may have slightly different tinting, but the only difference between an “oem” windshield and Pilkington is the word “Toyota” in the bottom right corner.
I don’t see any difference between my “oem” Pilkington and the PGW it replaced.
I’m not trying to be a dick, just wondering how anyone would be able to tell the difference between two uninstalled windshields

The aftermarket that Safelite had wasn’t Pilkington, or I wouldn’t have cared. It was a generic brand. I looked through it beforehand and if you move your head it got wavy. Like I said, your mileage may vary, but I definitely didn’t want THAT glass in my truck.

My OEM cracked within a few months. My 2 cents would be shop around town for a glass company with solid reviews, and don't go with the insurance company's cheapo replacement recommendation.

Safelite. so many people have had bad experiences with them. i don't know why people keep using them. Use a good local glass shop. literally anyone but Safelite.

My experience with safelite was great, USAA set up my appointment, all I had to do was show up. No deductible as in my state if you have comprehensive you get a free replacement. No issues

I have replaced with oem before and they are soft and get chipped, etched and crack way easier than the aftermarket ones I’ve had.
Now they only crack when I’ve had big shit hit them

My OEM had a distortion, so bad it made my eyes water. Glad when it broke. The after market is much better, seems like it was takes rock hits better too. OEM chipped super easy, didn’t even make it a year before cracking.

Only complaint with Safelite is they were a little sloppy with the sealer.
