Good evening… I got my windshield replaced today. I noticed one of the molding is slightly sticking out. Should I be concerned? It’s driving me insane. Let me know what y’all think. Thanks IMG_2905.jpgIMG_2906.jpgIMG_2908.jpg

I think thats kind of how it is. I ran a wire through that channel to power lights on the roof on my stock windshield.

I doubt it was like that prior to the new windshield install?

Naw, it was flushed along roof drip molding. Maybe I’m overthinking?

Replaced lots of windshields over the years and they rarely get them perfect. I'm OCD about that sort of stuff as well but eventually I learn to live with minor issues and eventually I forget about them.

Run it through a high-pressure car wash and check for leaks, top, bottom anywhere in that area. Hit the freeway or somewhere that you can get some decent speed and check for wind noise at various speeds. If it doesn't leak and there's no noise issue you're good. Sometimes having them reposition anything after it's set can cause more problems than it fixes.

If it ain't broke... and only you'll notice it. ;)

Mine has been replaced once, and out two other times. Not like that at all. Make fix it. Reason it's been out two other times, was roof replacement, and headliner replaced. Looks like your windshield was install low as well. Hard to see exactly, check to make sure Vin is centered in opening.

Whole windshield has to come out to fix that molding. The 3rd gen tacomas molding is like a c channel. I probably have over a million windshield replacement under my belt. Been in the business for over 18 years.

If it was better prior to the replacement install, tell the installer to redo it

I don’t doubt your expertise in windshield replacements but you’d have to work 7 days a week for 18 years straight and do 152 window replacements a day to hit a million in that time. Sorry I hate being that guy at times.

27-30,000 windshields vs 1,000,000 is definitely a pretty significant difference. But I'd say anyone who has done 1+ windshields on a tacoma with photo proof deserves some credibility when saying the whole windshield would have to come out to fix it. The fluffery was just extra, I agree.

Op, pic number 3. Looks like the paint is scraped all the way down to bare metal. I’d get touch up paint on that asap.

Yes, I noticed that as well. Plus that's where I noticed seal is laying flat. Seal/weather strip should be folded against roof. Which leads me to believe windshield is installed to low.
