I was on a night road trip last week and evidently got a rock into the windshield. I don't remember hearing it hit, but noticed it when I was cleaning the bugs off the next morning at the hotel. Within just a couple of hours the crack ran right in front of the driver's view.

I called my insurance this morning at 11:50 am. They verified my coverage and connected me on conference call directly with my choice of glass service. The receptionist told me the windshields were in stock. Then she said, "Oh my, it's good that you have the $100 deductible on your glass. It's expensive."

She said "You can come in anytime, Monday thru Friday before 3 pm and we will take care of you." I said, "How about right now?" She said, "Sure, I guess I better get the windshield coming from the warehouse."

At 12:30 I pulled in to the glass service, signed some paperwork and sat down to wait. At 1:40 pm I was driving out with new glass in place. As far as I can tell it's an exact OEM replacement with the gopro mount. The dot pattern at the top over the rearview mirror looks just like the original. Total invoice for glass and installation: $838. I just paid the deductible.

Still sucks. Because everyone's windshield is breaking. Mines broken and it's going to stay that way.

How ironic.. I had a crack in my windshield back in March in nearly the exact same spot. I was driving home 70 Eastbound from Hermann MO to O'Fallon. Not a single car in front of me and I hear this low sound of glass cracking. I couldn't make out where the sound was coming until I literally saw the windshield crack right in front of my eyes. No rock chips or anything. Others on here will tell you that it was due to a rock chip.. I can't prove otherwise, but I did not see any pits on the crack line which would indicate it was a rock chip or any other hard debris. I let it go knowing that dealing with Toyota would be an uphill battle. Paid my deductible and move on my merry way.

Have a chip in mine and everyday when I drive on some crappy roads I pray it doesn't spread.

Chips turn into cracks eventually. Depending on your insurance, it shouldn't cost you anything, and the glass guy will come to you.

Are the windshields different for the OR compared to the other models? Just curious because of the name in the title leads me to believe it is, if so why?

I definitely had a chip right in the middle of the inspection sticker. I have never seen a crack spread so fast and in three different directions. Has to be some stress or flexing tension on the glass.

Don't know if all models have the go pro mount. She asked me if mine did, so I assume there is a windshield without it.

They all do, but that is cool that you were able to get factory glass. That shit was expensive and I don't have glass replacement coverage on my insurance

Not true. I had a large chip in mine from a rock that was kicked up by a truck. Had it repaired over a year ago and no problems with cracking or spreading.

I hope mine never cracks. Glad you got if fixed OP. Maybe it's a $600 mark up because of the gopro mount:rofl:
