My windshield was hit with a baseball at the ballfields and there is no saving it. After calling around to multiple windshield replacement places the most affordable was through the Toyota dealership who orders the windshield and then a third party installs it quoted @ approximately $700. The kick in the nuts is because I have adaptive cruise control and all that jazz I have to then take my truck to Toyota to have it re-calibrated which cost another $300. Am I just being unreasonable, but that seems like a lot of money for a tiny windshield? Has anyone had to replace theirs and not got the system recalibrated? If I claim this through insurance will they cover the re calibration cost? Im open for any tips or advice. Thanks.

You may not need to re-calibrate. Try out the cruise before $pending the $300 and see how it goes. I've seen people replacing the windshield without any mention of re-calibration. Let us know how you do!

Just had my windshield replace on my 2018 Pro a few months ago and no recalibration needed. From what I read if they unplug the system or jostle it thats when you need to go back in for recalibration, a situation that is easily avoidable.

Had mine replaced for $365 with recalibration. Chip from road being milled turned into a crack too big to repair. Quote was below deductible so it was out of pocket. In Northern Virginia, Toyota dealerships have 3rd party installers do them. Replacement was also a Pilkington with GoPro mount. Cost for replacement seems to vary significantly by state from what I've read here in several threads.

Shared my experience recently on another post. Safelite replacement with Pilkington glass and recalibration was $720 total. $500 deductible on insurance paid for it.

I think if you want OEM or equivalent Pilkington glass, it's difficult to avoid the cost unless you have a low deductible on insurance.

Well, if I had a $1000 bill and a $500 deductible, I'd file a claim. The bastards take my money every 6 months, they can pay out, too.
