So I’m posting this for anyone that is considering an aftermarket windshield on their 3rd Gen. Hopefully it’ll save someone the headache I’ve gone through.

Got my windshield replaced last week on my 22 Ltd. Outside, it looked fine. Seams were good, etc. Inside, it looked like absolute trash. Like someone tan caulk up the side of my A pillars. Also all my sensors went off after driving for more than 10 mins.

Glass used was FYG. No distortion. Glass was quality. Job was just trash. Called and got a new guy out to replace it. Turns out the first guy didn’t snap the camera back in all the way. And of course he corrected the awful install job.

However, I noticed when he was installing the new shield he brought was XYG. A Chinese manufacturer known for defects. Well guys, lemme tell you it’s unreal. The new windshield (although installed adequately) is literally WAVY. I attached pics just to show how bad.

All said and done, they’re coming out again next week with a new FYG to replace again.

OEM was literally triple the price, so yeah that’s typically the way to go. But FYG fit perfectly aside from a shoddy install. Moral of the story is stay away from XYG. If they bring that to your install, just tell them to leave. Get FYG or if your state has the windshield coverage, OEM.

FYG as in FuYao Glass? That's for sure a Chinese company with plants in IL and OH.

    Can you believe it??

Install was done by a local place here in Dallas that partners w/monkey garage. Can’t really say anything bad about them, as they’re handling it professionally at no charge. Just a bad installer 1st, and a bad windshield 2nd
