Nah guys, it's for when you leave your truck in the driveway in the winter and the frost settles in.

Tried it, but my experience was NO GOOD AMEGO! It did not have nearly the effect of the 3M Christal line 70.

If you’re instrument rated and have the right aftermarket avionics you should be OK.

Lol. Yeah the town I live in is pretty relaxed and only a few thousand folks so it has that small town feel. I've seen a bunch of locals with the windshield tint and I've asked local shops, all have said the cops don't really care about that around here. Not to mention I have another tacoma that I use for my every day activities, so this one doesn't really get used.

    Lol...

I don't understand all of the hate toward having tint on the windshield? I have tinted every vehicle I've owned in the last 10 years or so with ceramic window tint all around. The windshield is always at 50% which when looking out? I can tell you from experience there is absolutely zero hinderance to your view outside either day or night. 50% is nothing on a windshield. But with ceramic tint it drastically cuts down on the heat entering the vehicle.

As brash as this car was when I bought it? Never once got stopped for a window tint ticket.

Now I have this and trust me when I tell you that 50% on the windshield makes all the difference in the world. And no... It does absolutely nothing negative toward outside visibility. But with a van like this and a windshield so large? You're going to need it tinted (especially if you are going to stay inside). I can not tell you the huge amount of difference in temp inside the van before I had it tinted and after. The windshield is 50% (as usual) and the sides are 20%. All ceramic tint. I thought about gong with 5% on the side which I usually do but 20% is enough when you have to back into places while it's dark. 5% would have been to dark. But every vehicle up until this van was tinted a 5% on the sides and back and 50% on the windshield. So unless you actually have tinted your windshield at 50% with ceramic coating... I'm sorry... but the benefits far out way the downside (of which there is none as long as you keep it 50% or above). Anything more than 50% is stupid. Especially if you are dealing with ceramic tint.

I have 50% ceramic on my windshield and I will say it cuts glare at night and def keeps it cooler and visibility has never been a problem for me day or night

Exactly. Anything more than 50% than I would call bullshit. Yes, it would cut down on temps (as long as it is ceramic) but then you get into possibly not seeing out as well at night is not something I'm willing to risk. But... 50% you don't even notice the tint. Even when I had that Jaguar, I never once got bothered by the cops and the sides and back were 5% which made the windshield look darker than it actually was.

And that Jaguar wasn't exactly subtle.

Total Chaos mid-travel front. JD Fab SUA rear.
I recently put a ceramic tint on my windshield. Forget what % it was but it’s not limo. A light shade but the heat rejection was AMAZING. Worth it by far. I don’t know how I never did this sooner. Without getting scientific, I noticed a drastic change in interior temps during the summer and having it parked in direct sunlight, even with a windshield shade.

Think what you want. The tint as I discribed works as intended. Can't help it if I've made good financial decisions in my life that has brought me to this point. I retired at 48 and my wife just retired at 48. Now we get to travel the country in the van until we get tired of it. Not bragging.... Just know how to invest my money. Instead of trying to out buy everyone on the FD I invested as much as I could in my pension and investments thoughout my life.

    You can do the same.

I don't have a problem with windshield tint,I do have a problem with being pulled over by aggressive idiot cops that just want to hassle you if you have tint .

If your windshield is tinted (no matter the %), a cop can pull you over. If your windows are tinted less that 35% on the side they can pull you over.

And honestly? I understand from a cops prespective. I'd hate to walk up to a vehicle that I couldn't see in. So if it is illegal (like mine are), I'll just take the ticket because I "know" they are illegal.

Each state is different on their tint laws. But I couldn't imagine being a LEO and having to walk up to a vehicle that is 5% all around and stand there and wait for the driver to roll down a window. Just to still not be able to see what else is in the car. Too many bad people out there in this world anymore. To @lynlan1819 post, if it's illegal, it's illegal. Not the officers decision to decide what is legal, just to enforce it.

I have 20% on my front doors (illegal in ohio) but that was the risk I decided to do. A lot of you make compelling arguments for windshield tint with CERAMIC at 50% or higher so I can understand that. It's when you get these kids in a vw jetta with 5% all around that really blows my mind.
