That seems like a really dumb spot to have a key pad

Here's how that came to be:
Some Southeast Toyota design engineer and a Toyota pencil pusher got together for a beer or three. Three beers turned into six, then each one got into a pissing contest about which one could come up with the least usable option that made the most money.
The design engineer came up with the touch keypad on the windshield to unlock the doors. I mean why touch the keypad 4 times when you can just touch the door handle just once? (I could have been an engineer but they found out that my parents were married.)
The pencil pusher came up with the mandatory $70+ phone cable package consisting of three phone cables and a 12 volt adapter plug that they bought off EBay for a total of $11 including shipping.

I live in FL so I'm stuck with SE Toyota Distributors as well. Didn't have this keypad as an add-on, and never pay attention to the distributor portion of the window sticker when considering MSRP. I start negotiating at what the manufacture says MSRP is....although I'm sure this market would be different. The rest of the stuff - $70 phone cable package, $399 carpeted floor mats, $699 Toyoguard Platinum, etc - is like Tony Soprano getting his taste.

To the OP, check your state laws about tinting the windshield before you decide. Here in FL it's illegal to tint the windshield below the AS-1 line. I did ceramic tint on all the windows to the max FL allows except the windshield - left that alone.
