Don't bother fixing it, just pay the ticket and move on. Way easier. I think it's $135... at least around here. I've just paid and sent it in maybe 3 times over the years.

Local shop in Phoenix says they do the work, $150, cash only, off-the-books. Local police say "we advise against", but they go to the same person who quoted me $150 for it. He says 15 years and never been bothered by police in CA.

Apparently quite the "gray area". I wear prescription glasses so use clip-on polarized that can handle most except for sun directly in my eyes (sunrise ... sunset).

Haven’t had a window tint ticket in MANY years, but when I was younger I had more than I could count.

Tint it, get ticket, strip tint, get law enforcement sign off, put tint back on - rinse and repeat.

I had a deal with a local tint shop that would do this for me at a reasonable cost.

Fast forward 20 years, I have skin cancer and and am supposed to stay out of the sun. I Wear long sleeve UV shirts and hats everywhere.

Have had quality UV inhibiting tint on all my cars for years, (even the windshield of one) and guess what? Not a single tint ticket.

In my old age and wisdom, I’m quite sure my actions and demeanor as a young man earned me those tickets more so than having the tint itself.

Get yourself some grey hair and costco pants and you might find the problem resolves itself.

Or just be willing to swallow your pride occasionally and say "Yes, sir" or "No, sir" as needed.

    Yes Sir!

But also not acting like (or vehicle looking like) a knucklehead on the road to begin with reduces LE contact.

Not hating on anybody, just older now and have a fresh perspective of my own past actions.

People from those states where they do not like the laws move to states that do not have those laws ... until the people who moved elect folk who will enact those same laws.

Funny how not driving like an idiot greatly reduces your chances of being pulled over and ticketed with other things just because you pulled them out of the air-conditioned vehicle in the middle of June.

I have exemption in New York. it only covers side windows and back. Front is not included in the exemption. its part of the responsibility of the owner to know what the laws are, and through that accepting there is a likelihood of a ticket at some point :pout:

“Standard window glass, according to the International Ultraviolet Association, will allow UV-A to pass through while almost 100% of the UV-B and UV-C light is blocked. Therefore, some UV light will enter your home and potentially affect your skin. Some of these effects could include increased freckles and increased sensitivity to sunlight that could result in rashes such as photodermatitis.”

I disagree. I have a tint exemption in Virginia. The auto dilation of both of my eyes was destroyed in 2008 when a 155mm shell was detonated on the passenger side of the hummer I was riding in in Afghanistan. My pupils are stuck wide open at all times. Thank God my doctor knows more than the internet authorities or I’d be in agony in the daylight for the rest of my life.

Your doctor doesn’t know the law anymore than an Internet expert does. They are just writing you a letter of exemption, the law doesn’t have to follow it. You can go argue that law in court.

Wow really. I simply stated there are medical reasons to make your car darker on the inside. You are incorrect in stating that there are none.

Don’t take my word for it talk to the surgeon who reconnected my optic nerves and saved my sight.

But then again that’s why I served…to protect the rights of people like you to be able to speak your mind and who have to argue about everything without knowing anything at all about the subject you spew forth your inaccuracies on. Have a good one.

The doctor does not write the exemption letter, that letter is straight from the state government. All the doctor is doing is signing off that you have a medical condition that is exacerbated by bright sunlight. The state ultimately approves or declines the exemption, not the doctor.

Aren’t sunglasses a better solution? You can take them off at night and they don’t interfere with other drivers of your car that don’t need or want the tint.
