My tint setup right now is 5% all the way around and I’m wanting to do 35% on the sheild next. Does anyone have pictures of this setup(or close to it) and/or suggestions? Yes I am aware this is illegal.

Screw the illegal part. That’s dark as hell. Do you not drive at night? I can barely see out my mirrors while reversing at night with 35% and you wanna do that to the front

What you need is a quality tint that rejects heat better. Paying 150 is not going to get you that. I was searching for the lowest price on a tint job, I researched and am now a week away from getting formula one stratos 15% around with 50% on windshield. Roughly $615. I live in Phoenix and most get 5%. I’ve seen windshield just as dark too.

    That’s what women are for....

I priced them around. Same on the three shops that are able to install this brand from llumar. First time spending this on tint. It’s Phoenix. We’ll see the difference.

I have 35% on the windshield on my tahoe and 0-5% all the way around. It's difficult as hell to see at night, but it's awesome on bright sunny days. I'll try to dig up a picture.

I've got 45% on my windshield after the tint guy told me "its hardly noticeable, just a hint of a smoked look" I like the look of it on my truck but since they messed up the install and trapped a bunch of crap in the tint I'm taking it back and gonna see if they'll swap it to the 70%. Can't remember the brand but its the heat rejecting top of the line tint I got on the windshield and the front 2 windows (running 35% on the sides).

here's the only pic I've got right now

That's way too much $$$ for tint

My 4 door Silverado cost right at $400 for 3M Color Stable which I've used on 3 different vehicles in the past 8 years. Great IR rejection, never turns purple, no issues at all. For 5 windows (front to back) and a full windshield tint with a strip on top of that. Lifetime warranty too...the tint itself is relatively cheap for the shop. Most of what they're charging you is the labor

OP - I have 50% on the windshield and personally I wouldn't go any darker than that. I have 5% all around on the rest of the truck.

It is, but I went with the numbers.
Real world, doubt anyone will notice the difference.

    This is at 15% tint.
    Total solar energy rejection: 63%
    IR energy rejection:66%
    Selective IR rejection:95%

I'll try to grab some pics later today. Honestly I barely noticed a difference with the 50%, even at night (there is glare reduction though) Although I've had others riding shotgun that said it looked fairly dark. I'll get an inside pic as well to try and give you an idea

I think being used to 5% tint made me not notice the windshield at 50%

I'm of the opinion that I'd rather see clearly through my windshield (especially at night) than have it look rad.

Wear sunglasses when driving, and use a windshield shade when it's parked.

Shades are a helluva lot cheaper than tint, and you can even represent your favorite sports team or make it look like your truck is wearing sunglasses.

If you’re that worried about the heat in the car, get a remote start. Cool the car down before you get in, and it’s legal and cheaper (for some of the ridiculous prices you guys are paying for tints).

If you’re more worried about simply looking good over being able to see, then I can’t help you. You have bigger issues than figuring out tint percentages. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about having a great looking truck, but not if it jeopardizes the safety of me and everyone else on the road because of my negligence. :proposetoast:

After a while of thinking on this I finally did it. I could not be happier with the way it turned out, can’t even tell it’s there when driving day or night, helps keep it cool and helps with the sun/headlight glares, and most of all looks pretty darn cool too. Highly recommend 35% on the windshield:thumbsup:

All suntek tint. Lifetime warranty. Every windshield I’ve ever had done was 80$. And that’s at a buddy’s tint shop

Tinted my front 70% for strictly aesthetic purposes - interior looks super dated in grey from outside, had the sides tinted to match the xtra cab windows and it looked alright at 35%. All the sun coming in the front makes it hardly look tinted. Once the 70% was done it was perfect IMO. Spent $145 total for side windows and front and quality is amazing.
