I just ordered s set of Bosch Icons for my Tacoma. They should be at my door today or tomorrow. Before I put them on, I want to clean my windshield with a degreaser first. Yesterday was the first time I drove this truck in a heavy rain and noticed that the wipers are shot and lots of grease spots showing up.

I kinda think my blades need to press down a little harder on the windshield, it tends to wipe back and forth while skipping about half of it.

don't forget to regularly clean the actual wiper blades with rubbing alcohol, you'd be surprised at all the dirt and oil that will be removed from them. They'll last much longer too.

OEM rubber refills for me as well. Can't seem to get any longevity out of other, more expensive brands. Stealership had a coupon last time as well. No issues with skipping.

I must be an oddball because I tried a set of Bosch Icons and within 6 months they were chattering. I put the OEM blades I took off back on and they worked better.

Skipping is caused by the rubber not flopping when it changes direction. Turn on the wipers. Turn the key off in mid stroke and look at the wiper. If it's like pushing a gas station squeegee across the windshield, there's your problem. You can twist the arm slightly with a crescent wrench.

Ok, update. I purchased OEM replacement wipers today. Put them on and the driver's side squeaks, a lot. So I decided to put the Tricons back on, ( 18-200 ). For some reason they worked better than the first time I put them on, maybe they were not seated correctly. The Tricons worked as well as the OEMs, pass. side perfect, driver's side squeaks. I'll keep the OEM's and see how the do. The squeaking sucks!! I'll look into the cleaning products that were suggested as well. ANYTHING to get the wipers to behave.

look at your blade from the inside of your truck it should be uniformly seated on the windshield if its not then you have a spring pressure issue, My 2000 still has good spring pressure.

might need to clean your glass with shopping_855e8d73f657418f9e249af65e376e7fc983441d.jpg seems to work good on my windshields. Also got some wipers from safelite when I got my windshield replaced, so far they seem to be holding up.

ABSOLUTELY A MUST!!! BOSCH ICON's!!!!! They are about $25 each, I have used on all my vehicles for 3-4 years! I tried literally ever brand out there. Whatever you do, do not buy the Rain-x wipers. Expensive... and work as good as a $10 pair.

With a completely dry windshield, no noise. In rain and snow, no streeks. Turn them on, spray water on your windshield and they will clean off the bugs!

    Excellent wiper blades!

Icon's work exceptionally well! BUT, like previous member stated at about 3 years they do start working more like a high end normal blade. You will start to see some streeks. Personally, I am OK with that, clear vision at a cost of $50/3... $16 a year. To me it's a good investment. Others may think differently.

I just remembered I had cell phone video driving in the great flood of Louisiana in 2016. 24" rain in 3 days....

Sorry the first pic is in reverse, I took the screen caps from the vid then put side by side backwards, lol! but that's before blade passes, when blade passes then right after in a torrential rain storm.

I got some rainX ones and they only worked good on my honda accord...only reason I think is because the blades kind of tuck down under the hood slightly...anything else with the wiper exposed didnt work worth a crap. either squeaked, chattered or thumped. All of which drive me nuts...

jboudreaux1965, you are an advertiser's dream. Awesome verification images!!! I'll be extremely surprised if I get anything close to three years out wiper blades that squeak.
    Great responses everyone :taco:

Update: I ended up cancelling my order for the Valeo blades. I came across an old thread (can't remember which one) that mentioned SightLine blades from Toyota. The post stated that they are an upgrade from the OEM blades, so I thought I would give those a shot. They are made to work with the specific shape of our windshields. I have had them on for a few weeks, and so far I am loving them. No streaks, no squeaks, no skipping. Time will tell how long they last, but so far I am happy!

Get the PIAA's mentioned above. I put a pair on wife's Lexus a few months ago and was impressed. Put a pair for my Taco yesterday. You'll pay $50 a pair, but you won't be disappointed. Made in Japan, known for better rubber.

Another +1 for piaa, I run them on all of our cars and have been for years. Another thing that is nice about them is once you have the frames you can replace just the rubber for about $8/ side.
