My 2001 Tacoma windshield wipers will only work on high speed and when turned off the wipers will not automatically go to the full down position. I have to work the switch on and off toe retract the wipers to the full down position. One night all worked well and the next morning the problem was there when I started the truck. Any and all help will be appreciated

Tap, or even smack hard, on the motor with a screw driver handle while it's running and see if that fixes it. Sometimes motors like that just get "Stuck Up" for whatever reason. Spray some electronics cleaner on the switch as well. Obviously the motor still works. There's just a glitch in the switch or some crap in the motor itself. I that simple stuff doesn't work replace the switch first and if it still acts up then the motor itself.

Let me know if it works so I can at least "feel" like a genius. Believe it or not. I did exactly what I just suggested on a '73 Cadillac i owned for 18 years. The windshield wipers quite working on me in a downpour. I got out and pounded on the motor with a screwdriver handle and they worked flawlessly for another ten years. They still worked when I gave the car away 2 years ago. This "new" stuff isn't as robust as the old stuff though.

If it were my truck, I'd replace the switch first (cheap and easy). They are readily available at wrecking yards (ie - real cheap). Even if that doesn't work, you are only out about 10 bucks.

I'm currently running one out of a 4runner (I wanted the intermittant feature).
