Anybody aware of a good mod, or replacement, for the wiper system? That seems to be the one thing I didn’t notice before buying my 2nd gen Taco. Basically, the wipers have two speeds: slow and not as slow. There’s no intermittent function and the “fast” setting isn’t all that fast and definitely doesn’t keep up with our Texas downpours. I’m interested in what insight you guys might have to offer.

I want the auto sense wipers like they have on luxry cars. Where it automatically goes as fast as it needs to depending on the level of rain.

I’m mostly just irritated with the fact that it’ll rain hard, then drizzle, then down pour, then mist UGH!

Keep your windshield clean. Once every 6 months clean the windshield then clay bar it and apply a hydrophobic glass coating on it.
Will bead water like nuts and reduce the speed at which you need your wipers set.

Google around for 'intermittent wiper switch'. Expect to pay $100+ for new. There are a few other vehicles that have compatible PNs and you might have some luck there.
Be sure to get one that's closer to your year model. If you have a pick a part or junkyard that actually keeps Yotas on hand, unlike me, you can get a better deal. Toyota around me get rebuilt all day every day, can hardly find a wrecked Camry to pull the wiper stalk from!

I've seen 3 different types in my own research:
    1) The base model 2-speed junk. Low is too fast, high is way too fast and pointless. IMO ~$50 range new
    2) An intermittent switch. Has 3 total speeds, int., low, and high. NOT a variable/adjustable intermittent wipe. ~$70+ new
    3) The switch that's come standard in every vehicle I've owned back to 1994 year models. Has variable intermittent, a speed a tick above the highest int., then high speed. ~$100+ new

    Get #3.

Also yes. I cleaned mine well back in summer, clayed, then put on RainX. Made not having real wipers suck less.

I’ll give the wiper and rain x suggestions a try (I’m out on the clay) but they might not add up here. I’m from Washington state originally, so I’m no stranger to rain. Texas storms can be f’ing nasty though. Those approaches don’t really keep up with the volume of water I’m looking to wipe away. I’m after a mechanical solution. I can deal without the intermittent, but the speed on the stock wiper motor is pretty pokey.

Also, people that use hashtags should have rotten fruits and vegetables thrown at them.

I've owned a BMW and a VW, and my wife has a CX-5 with automatic wipers and they suck. They never do what you want. I disabled them on my Golf R and used the intermittent function.
