Just an update on this, ended up replacing the fuses and trying the install again. This time, no blown fuses! I swear I was following the directions carefully the first time, but important thing is that it works. Will update this long-term in case I have the leaking issue like others here. Thought I'd regret getting the clear over the smoked, but it doesn't look too bad!IMG_20180924_105908.jpg IMG_20180924_105913.jpg IMG_20180924_105921.jpg IMG_20180924_105925.jpg IMG_20180924_110148.jpg IMG_20180924_110335.jpg MVIMG_20180924_110143.jpg MVIMG_20180924_110328.jpg

So some unfortunate news. Decided to expedite the testing process and pour 8oz of water over the left headlight to simulate rain. Went about my business for about 1.5 hours driving around in 80 degree weather and came back to this. Might be hard to see but there is some condensation build up in there.

These lights are done for. I can't imagine a reputable retailer wanting the continued RMA headaches associated with Winjet.

Sure does :/ I read on the BRZ/FRS forums that their Winjets did the same and used RTV silicone sealant to re-seal it, so I may try it out when I get the time. Shame that so many customers had to take matters into their own hands.

Thanks for the heads up guys, was about to pull the trigger tonight but since I live in Washington state, I can't afford to buy leaky taillights. Sucks they look great too;(

Just wanted to ad more feedback regarding these taillights. I am now giving up on these. I liked how they asthetically looked but that was pretty much it. Last August I posted about how I was working with the vendor who is actually one of the biggest vendors for our community to get my leaking driver's side replaced. If I recall they also had a huge hassle getting response from Winjet and they too have admitted that they did not want to keep selling the taillights made by winjet. Overall the replacement took longer than 8 weeks.
The new light still works fine to this date with no leaks. However, after several times out to the desert, crazing has developed at points where the red outer lens extended past the black housing on the winjets. I theorize that unlike the OEM light housings on our trucks which the red lens edge sits flush with the black housing, the winjet lights would hit against the body when the body flexed which put stress on the red plastic. So again another design flaw. For the price of these lights is definitely not cool. So I am going to contact the vendor again to see if anything can be done but now it's been so long that I'm pretty sure I'm just going to end up tossing the winjets in the trash.
They do however still fully function and are not leaking at this point. But I don't want to chance the spreading of cracks. There are also points near the tops of the housings where it seems that red film under the plastic housings are separating. Today I put back on my stock OEM lights for now.

Below is the picture of the crazing

    20181229_161517.jpg

and then also another picture of the stock light on the left and the Winjet on the right and one can see that the red lens part does extend past the black housing on the winjet.20181229_154138.jpg

Here's where there are more issues near the tops of the lights.

I bet this also contributes to the leaking issue, as you daily drive the truck and go over manholes or just roads with bumps over time it causes stress and finally creates a separation between the lens and housing.

With a thin stripe of butyl glue from morimoto it should fill in that gap and fix the leaks. However, I don't believe the extra strip of butyl glue rubber would resolve the aesthetic damage from the "crazing"

Got my Winjet Taillights for my 2017 Tacoma, installed them. Everything works but the brakes. And it throws a code in my truck saying the brakes aren't working properly basically. Whats going on with it?

This problem has happened many times on here. A quick search should yield many more results. But from what I have read, it happens if you plug in the connector backwards. I would also double check all the fuses in the engine bay.

One of my lights leaked. Contacted winjet and got a warranty replacement. I used black silicone and sealed the lens to the housing on both lights. So far it’s working. Maybe I can convince @MESO to make me a custom set.

reNeglect - I purchased these same lights for my 2019 Tacoma and they keep blowing a fuse causing the "Break Override Malfunction" that I have seen in other posts and the website is being very difficult with the warranty/return. Apparently there is very fine print explaining that the lights only replace certain OEM lights, which of course I do not have.

How difficult was this rewiring that you mentioned?? Might have to give it a try.

    Thanks.
