Does anyone else have this problem?

My 2021 Tacoma does not do well starting in the cold at all (-10 c or lower).

It turns over but does not always go.

This is concerning since this is a new truck supposed to be made for the elements...

Make sure your battery cables are tight. Load test the battery at a parts store for free if you want. 3rd gens do offer an engine block heater but I just did some looking and apparently there’s a recall for some of them. Fire hazard.

Just had a cold snap a couple weeks back -12° C. My truck started fine. If you are having issues then, as suggested above, have the battery looked at. There have been a few members with bad batteries from factory. The dealer will warranty it if it's bad.

Same here, I have a 2021 Tacoma TRD PRO and I am on the second Factory Battery and it wouldn't start when it gets really cold.
Battery voltage drops to 11.6V during cold weather and truck don't start.
The first original battery was replaced under warranty, now I am out of luck no warranty since I am at 76,000Km.
Warranty is 3 years or 60,000Km which ever comes first.
    Very DISAPPOINTED.

I replaced mine with one from O'Reilly Auto which came with a 5 year warranty. Replaced the one in my Wife's 4Runner with a Toyota model and the new one also came with a warranty that was separate from the vehicle warranty. Maybe look into something like that.

I am looking at an AGM 24F for $279cdn at Costco.ca 5 years limited warranty, 100 months prorated.
Is this a good deal in your opinion?

Thanks CraigF, that is some awesome information.
On second thought.....I think I will stick to the Sealed Lead Acid battery because I am not sure if my Taco will charge the AGM at a higher voltage.

Properly measure parasitic draw,,, don’t guesstimate, especially if you have aftermarket doodads. No battery will survive if there’s too much.

I did all of that and no current being drawn, I am sure it is the battery.

Ehh it happens, batteries can be hit or miss, and ridiculously low temps don’t help either.

You have a 3 yr old battery with 76,000 km. Just get a new battery at the best price. Probably Costco, C Tire etc. Get a regular battery and forget the AGM. Most batteries are the same just different prices, colors, sellers and warranty's. $279 Cdn is too much to pay in my opinion.

You have to mess with the alternator if you use these AGM batteries.
I change my batteries in all my cars every 2 years - I set it up on the calendar -
    It's just what I do and recently did ( JUNE 1 ).

For the most part batteries are batteries are batteries made by 3-4 major manufacturers labeled for whoever.

Go to Wmart and buy an Everstart - it's the best bang for the buck and just do that every 2 years.

If you live in extreme temps ( hot like Phoenix or cold up north ) it's just the way of the world.
Gone are the days of getting 48 months ( or sometimes longer ) out of a battery.

Thanks for the confirmation of buying a regular SLA battery, I don't want to mess with the alternator.

Good advise, gonna stick with a SLA battery. I can get one from Costco for $169 Cdn.

My original factory battery had a bad cell at 33 months. My dealer gave me a new free Toyota battery. My replacement is 5 years old. If you are still under warranty, have the dealer look at it.
