Just changed the wheels and tires over for the winter driving experience. I am the 2nd owner of my 2021 Tacoma and think this is the 1st time the wheels have been removed as I had to take a BFH to the inside of the wheels to get them off. Is this normal?

Were there retaining clips on the studs? Rust and orosion holding it together? Why was it hard?

I put some anti seize on the hub and rotate every oil change or two. Never have much of an issue on any vehicle I own.

Must of been a buildup of rust or dirt. What shape were the tires when you bought the truck.

Galvanic corrosion…….its an issue with dissimilar metals. Its rather common

Do you have the TRD Sema wheels? Those are never fun to remove. Those were a bear, but when I switched to the stock sport wheels they were super easy to remove and usually fall off on their own when I remove the last lug nut.

The semas I pretty much had to get behind the wheel and kick it off with enthusiasm. Annoying.

I think it was galvanic style corrosion. There was only about 15K on the truck when I bought it, so that is what makes me believe they had never been removed before. I wire brushed the wheels and hubs and put on a small coating of anti seize for when they are removed and replaced on the spring.
