I've got some vacation time saved up and would like to do a trip to Tennessee. Probably a week is what the wife and I can muster for now between my work and her school schedule. We looked at cabins in Pigeon Forge but want to know if there are other areas we should be looking. We're planning for mid December. Thanks

They have cabins to rent in Gatlinburg going up towards the ski slope, also maybe try over in Townsend.

Thanks we'll take a look at the options. Is there much to do during the winter months? We don't really ski but didn't even think of that being an option. We would like to see as much of the area as possible.

If you like to wheel your truck there is some fairly easy wheeling at Hurricane Creek. You can take it and go hit up Max Patch, which is a super scenic area.

That sounds like it would be a great trip. Yes, we do enjoy some wheeling. Thanks!

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
One of my best times ever was renting a cabin in the Gatlinburg area and getting snowed in  with a fireplace with my GF .. :D.

My GF was at UT at the time and she picked the place and it was an out of the way cabin and had a cool fireplace with lots of wood.

I can't remember how expensive it was ... but I don't think it was super expensive as I was a college kid at the time.

This guy shows how to get there. It's tricky to find if you've never been there.

They set up lights and christmas stuff all over Gatlinburg and pigeon forge during December. You can always take trip over the mountain to Cherokee and go to the casino.

Not too far from Gatlinburg area is Cosby, Tn. Family rented a cabin there a few years ago for thanksgiving week. Was out away from all the busy places but still close enough to get into town if you needed something. I’ve also looked into cabins in Maggie valley, which is just over the mountain in NC. So many beautiful areas with things to do for anyone

It is a beautiful area. If you want away from the crowds look a little further south. Cabins can be rented cheap down around the Tellico area. Less crowds but not much to do at night other than read, snuggle, and watch the fire!

Sometimes that is the best night!

Just booked the same area with the family for July. Is the wheeling and scenery worth taking my truck? If not were going to take my wife's Acura.

Nah not really unless you're wanting to commit a whole day to wheeling. There's a few forest roads that could all be driven in a car

    Just take the Acura
