I replaced my wiper transmission (linkage), reinstalling my wiper arms and was wondering, are the two 'holes', or dots on the lower part of the windshield for wiper alignment? I know a lot of cars use these. Only reason I ask is that if I use the dot for the passenger side arm, it looks a bit higher than it should be. To me, anyway. Or, are the 2nd gens all like that, passenger side wiper just a tiny bit higher than driver side? Thanks.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Not sure but strangely I was looking at the single dot on both the passenger and driver side below the matrix along the top of the windshield, not an hour ago. Wierd.

If removing arms I mark position on glass with painters tape, inside the cab.

On my truck the passenger wiper rests near the dots and the driver's side is in the solid area. The inside-ends generally point to each other but the passenger side looks higher near the pillar end.

Thanks for all of the replies! I just used the dots as reference for where the blade rests. I guess it's weird to me because mine were installed too low previously.

It don’t really matter if it’s a bit longer or shorter as long as it doesn’t go beyond the windshield.

I don’t think dot matrix on every windshield has anything to do with wipers.

you cycle the linkage then bolt the wipers on in a resting position. Then you test it to make sure they wipe without hitting the cowl or pillars.

No, not those dots, the round clear indicator in the solid black area. I called it a dot, wasn’t sure what you’d call it for sure. Here’s something that describes it, Toyota calls it a matchmark:
