Lately I’ve been having issues with my drivers side wiper blade arm. The nut holding the arm seems to get loose and it won’t swing the blade across the windshield. It’ll just get stuck near the base of the windshield. I’ve tried tightening the nut but it doesn’t seem to work after a day or two. Any ideas?

You need to remove the arm and clean all the teeth on the pivot with a scribe or similar.
If you wait too long you will wear out the center of the arm and it will never tighten.
Cranking on the bolt will do nothing.

    Yeah. Scale of 1 to 10 it’s a .5…
Just make sure you cycle the wipers to park before you lock it down.
And stop trying to turn on the wipers with a shit ton of snow and or frozen blades..

Take off nut, give a slight tap with heal of hand at the joint should pop right off
Clean those grooves and one’s on the arm

Putting the arm back on a spline off from its original alignment the first time is kinda easy to do if you're not used to it. It can help to take a photo before you start of the wiper arms at their rest (parked) position to make sure you get them in the original position.

Note that new arms come with no splines cut in the mounting hole. They're cut by the post the first time its mounted.

The splines on the drive stud are kind of small, so it doesn't take much crud in them to interfere with the arm fit. I use a fine/soft wire brush to clean mine. It's a relatively delicate part one wants to take care of. Better to replace an arm if needed than get into the wiper drive transmission.

If the splines are worn is there any way to get the arm in?

    Splines won’t be worn.
It shaves the aluminum pocket before it ruins the splines
