The reservoir cracked in my 99 and I bought a new one. Any idea how I might be able to protect it from the heat before installing it? I was thinking maybe plastidip?

    Thoughts?

When mine cracked, I just did a PVC homemade reservoir, maybe $20. Do a quick search or I have a link to Blackdawg's writeup in my build thread.

Thanks. It looks like a solid replacement! Probably would have done that had I not already bought the thing. I was just wondering if there was something I could put on the new tank in order to insulate or protect it from the heat. I've never used plasti-dip before and I thought that might work so long as it's not a fire hazard.

Hadn't thought of that! Do you think it'd work well on the reservoir?

The original one lasted 17 years. I wouldn't sweat it.
I recently replaced mine with OEM.

yes. but i wouldnt do it right away. I'd wait 12 years when it will need the protection.

Pretty much all plastic gets old and brittle with age

It is not just the heat it is the thermal cycling

In climates that have a real winter it is even more of a cycle

I made one out of 3" ABS and retained the low level sensor as well.
