Hello, I have a 96 Tacoma SR5 V6 4x4. The Wiper/Washer Switch is not working. I don't know anywhere to start the troubleshooting. I need your subjection guys. What's the problem? Did you have this problem before?

When you say the switch is not working...

are you sure it's the switch ?

or could it be the washer pump has failed ?

    You checked the fuse ?

    Put a voltmeter to the pump's e-connections
and be sure you have no voltage there when toggling the switch.

I just bought the truck last week. I have not check anything yet because I don't know where to start with. I guess the Pump is still working fine because the previous owner wired two small-yellow cables from the Windshield Washer Pump or Windshield Washer Motor at the front to the left side (beside the Steering Wheel) which is close to the Driver Door and he made a little-pin switch on there to turn on and off. First, I thought it was the Switch for something else, but it is the switch for the Windshield Washer.

I don't like the way it is now, so I need it to be the original way. I guess the Windshield Washer Switch is completely bad. I did lots of searching online but I didn't see any information at all. How can I replace it?

The headlight and wiper switch are pretty common parts that tend to short out or go out on the Tacomas. I would double check the fuses first, but it could just be a switch that shorted out.

I'm at work now til 9:30 PM. I'll check the fuses out tomorrow morning and then I'll report back here about the solution.

I checked the fuses and there are nothing wrong with them. After carefully checking the Windshield Washer Pump/Motor and I noticed that the previous owner replaced another Pump which is not the one similar to the original one, thus, he made the little pin switch to turn on and off as I mention above. Then I went to buy another similar/exact one, which came from the same year of my truck, from the Junk Yard this afternoon, but I don't know how to take the old one out and install the new one in. I already took off the four bots which holds the Pump to the Firewall but I could not unbolt the nut which is inside the Firewall off. Do you have any idea how to do it?

I checked it again today and the water came well but the wiper did not work. It did not wash the windshield. Does it mean that the problem just the Wiper/Washer Switch only?

I got it. The problem was the Wiper and Washer Motor.
