What kind of terminals are in it? If it is spade (looks like it may be) there should be a small lock tab that needs to be pushed up with a mini flathead screwdriver or something similar. Many terminals have a tab that needs to be depressed, some more complicated ones you do need special tools though or some ingenuity.

    Fan switch connector?

Looking at your second photo, on the long side facing the camera (directly above your thumb nail) there is a secondary lock that almost blends in with the rest of the white plastic connector body. Pry that outward - it should slide straight out the side and protrude almost 1/8" when fully released. Once it stops, don't pry any more.

Then down beside each pin there will be a plastic lock tab - kind of a one way pawl. Look into one of the open sockets to see what I mean - then carefully pry it back while pulling gently on the wire - the wire and pin should slip out the back side of the connector body.

To assemble, slip the pin in from the back in reverse order, the when all pins are in place, push the plastic secondary lock back into place flush with the side of the body.

Yep. It is the fan connector. I released the secondary lock and inserted a small flat head screw driver in the front of the connector but couldn't get it to let go. Maybe the screw driver was just to big and couldn't get in the connector far enough to release the pin. Any suggestions on what I might use to release it and where exactly I should be trying to release it from on the front of the connector?

I guess I will just have to give it another try it n the morning.

you can try cutting a pc of shim stock narrow enough to slip in there. put tape on one end so you can protect your fingers and be able to push on it

A flat "jeweler's" screwdriver should work very well - were you able to locate the plastic tabs inside the open sockets?

fold a piece of packing tape over itself so it makes a little plastic sheet
roll that around the wire and clip and jam it in, it may work

Yeah, I googled last night until my fingers bled (not really) and couldn't find a new connector. If anyone can locate one and send me the link I would be grateful.

Thanks for the help all! It looks like I had the right idea, my technique was just a bit off. Hopefully I can get it apart tonight when I get home to tighten up the connections.

Found a part number for the connector. Thought I would share. Haven't tried ordering one yet though. So no guarantees we can even get it.

Pricing seems good if that is the right connector. Although you will need to figure out how to extract the terminals so they can be transferred over and that 1 burnt it would of course be a good idea to replace.

How much? Is it just the connector or are there pigtails from the five wires attached as well?

I have a favor to ask, I just did the same fix on mine. After running the blower on high for about 30 min i checked the wiring and back of the fan speed switch for heat and noticed the back of the switch housing is warm. I'm wondering if yours and all of them get warm when on high for a long period of time. It just has me paranoid after dealing with the burnt wire connector. Mine only gets warm on high. I just want to know if it is normal to get warm.

I will check mine when I get home. I have about a 45 min commute and I will probably have to run the ac on high the whole way. I will report back later today.
