"That’s because the vehicle you’re driving, thanks to overbuilt materials and construction, achieves a level of ruggedness only hinted at by other off-roaders’ aggressive looks. That vertical drop you’re staring it? This thing will walk you down in low range with your hands off the wheel."

$140,000 for an FJ40 'customized' with "...no expense is spared inside either. Those round air vents? Those are milled, anodized aluminum, not plastic. The transparent green sunshades? Lexan items from a Lear jet. The chunky steel handles that allow the windscreen to fold down are from a Sub-Zero fridge."

Wtf is that front bumper doing on there? mini ARB knockoff?

It's not new, it's not Mexico
    What a waste of $140,000.

This guy is local, I don't know him personally, but see him driving around all the time. His rig has evolved a bit since the article was written, it's taller now and it's all one color. I doubt he has 140K in it, and it's absolutely bad ass looking now that he's cleaned it all up and painted it.

I do have to admit, the Icon is pretty cool, and if I had 140K and no patience and just wanted to write a check for what I wanted, I just might do it.

For that kind of money you could get one of these, then modify it:

The Icon pops up on TW every now and again.

You guys don't get it -- nor are you the target market.

The guy who buys one will write a check for it without thinking twice if he can afford it. But he'll never lift a wrench to work on it, because wrenching on cars isn't in his skill set.
