Looking to know what the definitive answer is on my 2020 SR5 taco. I just upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy 20 and it has wireless fast charging, which you can't get from the USB DC output on the plug needed to connect to entune/Android Auto. On Android auto it says it's compatible but I can't get it to work without a cable connected to the head unit. Has anyone been able to make this work without buying a $100 dongle?

No. Tacomas can't do wireless Android Auto.

That's disappointing, is it just a hardware lacking on the stock head units for the 5ghz required?

I don't know the technical reason for it, just that it is not incorporated in Tacomas still.

Either get a new head unit or an $85 adapter. I went with the adapter, working well now.

I sold my van for a taco. I installed an aftermarket head unit in the van that had wireless Android Auto built-in. What I really appreciated is that it basically auto-connected by itself very reliably and I rarely had to think about it.

Can you say the same for the wireless dongle? Or like most bluetooth things do you have to fuss with it for a minute every time? I'll definitely try it out if it's smooth.

It's no fuss, which is why I like it so much. Keep my phone in my purse and by the time I'm done backing out of my parking spot and put it to drive AA is connected and I'm listing to Audible or Spotify with Google Maps auto up and running.

I've had AAWireless since the Kickstarter. I finally got the random reboots to stop. Now it works every time. It so consistent I re-routed the USB plug into the glove box and replaced it with a dual charge only plug.

My 2020 has wireless AA. Use it all the time.
    But then, I use a 7600 NEX. :D
