Wireless CarPlay doesn't connect w/ remote connect

Pretty cool with remote connect on the new Tacoma that the truck doesn't shut off when you unlock the door, however, it looks like wireless CarPlay doesn't connect.

So...you don't have to restart the truck when you open the door, but now you have to restart the truck (or manually go into settings and connect your phone after you get in) in order for CarPlay to connect?

Hopefully this can be fixed before winter when I really want to use remote connect with a simple update in either the phone or the truck software. Or...am I doing something wrong and no one else is having this issue?

Also wondering if this is an issue with Android Auto, or just Apple?

 

When you get into the truck after remote start, push in and hold the volume knob for a second, the display will reboot and Carplay will connect. It's much simpler than going into setting and faffing about, and will become second nature for you.

Toyota knows about the infotainment system not auto connecting after remote start, but it won't be an easy problem to solve.

Android Auto and Carplay both have this issue.
