Wireless CarPlay

Have you had any reception issues with the unit in the glove box?

This looks like a really cool Idea. I like hiding it in the glove box. my idea would be to replace that with a QC 3.0 charge port after rerouting the media to the wireless thing. The only thing is my personal phone is Android but they have similar devices. adding the fast charge port and wireless media would be a win. would make it much easier to use my phone for music since I find it a pain take my phon out and plug in tin for a short trip.

 

Nice but I don't like to see any wires at all.

 

Unplug what?

 

All I do is open the glove box and unplug the mini c from it and viola plug it back in? No need to unplug it from the media port as unplugging it in the glove box resets any quirks.

 

Well since I have had it for many months and have had zero issues. That one time I might have to reach into the glove box and burn an extra 6 calories doing it. Is well worth a clean install to see zero wires dangling anywhere so it's worth it to me. I even popped out the cigarette lighter socket and put a dual usb in that spot with a volt meter. Didn’t want to see and phone charger wires etc hanging out of that either

 

Just ordered a CarLinkIt. Like the idea in putting it in the glove box. Will do that when the weather gets warmer...

 

Is this better then using my bluetooth for my music and phone calls?

 

You never have to unplug it. If it doesn’t connect on the first try you can just reset the head unit with the power/volume button.

 

well I just pulled the trigger on this carsifi one for Android Auto that looks pretty similar to Carlink and the new version that's shipping even looks nice and small too.

I really like that however I still need charger wires for now sometimes. My OnePlus 7pro doesn't have wireless charging. I found an aftermarket wireless charger that I can add to non trd trucks I will go with after I upgrade to a different phone.

 

Hold down the power button on the radio, it will reset the head unit without shutting the truck off.

 

I actually have a CarLink 2, and honestly works pretty good, every so often I get some lag with the controls but that is apparently an all over Wireless Carplay thing not a CarLink thing.

 

Unless you've add a 20+ stereo this isn't an option for us. It changes wired Carplay to wireless; it doesn't add Carplay.

Have you found a blank button that fits in the unused media port?

 

None out yet Sir but maybe now that the 22's are coming out I might luck out.

 

I relocated my USB to the center console and replaced my lower panel with a MESO panel. I hate that the 20+ usb port is a different size.

 

I wish mine came with CarPlay. I had to replace the head unit.

 

Looks clean though.
