Wiring aftermarket Fog Light Switch

    So originally bought this aftermarket switch to light up the foglight switch, because I was under the impression that the OEM switch came un-illuminated.

    Found out that there actually is a bulb in there? That somehow most people also are unaware comes illuminated from factory.

    Anyways before I try to replace the OEM bulb, I figured I might try to figure out how to wire this one. The issue I am running into is the switch either is only always illuminated, or off. Pic attached of the wiring of aftermarket switch.

    I bought it off Amazon (
    $10 iJDMTOY Factory Style 4-Pole 12V Push Button Switch w/LED Background Indicator Lights Compatible with Fog Lights, DRL, LED Light Bar, etc (39mm Standard Size)
    this), has anybody purchased this one or a similar one? How did you wire it to get it to be illuminated with headlights, and the "window" to turn on when the switch is pushed?

    Aux back up lights, Bed lights, Re-located trailer plug, Good dooby, a.k.a. jumper cable mod, Heated seats, back up camera,
    Pop the switch out. You'll see something round, 3/8-1/2" diameter with a skinny screwdriver slot. 1/4 turn ccw and pull it out.
    The ones I've seen were brown or gray. They're not cheap though.

    You can’t do it. The aftermarket switches are wired differently internally than the OEM switches. The aftermarket switches send positive voltage to a relay. The OEM switch supplies a ground for the relay. The way the LEDs are connected in the aftermarket switch, it won’t work right if you try to make the switch complete the circuit to ground. If you want a switch with an indicator using the OEM wiring, get the 6 terminal FJ switch and 6 terminal connector. Then you’ll need to add 2 wires.

    Awesome video. I'll definitely use it if I go through with the wiring. I'm concerned about the whole positive vs ground switch of OEM vs aftermarket.

    I just put those in my shopping cart, just in case.

    I was worried the OEM supplied a ground for the relay. I was primarily hoping that I wouldn't have to drop $70 for the FJ Switch and wiring.

    Dang! Looks like now I have to decide between the FJ switch or just the bulb.
