    Hi all,

I recently installed a set of CaliRaised ditch lights. Ordered the full kit (Brackets/Pods/Harness/Switch) and installation was relatively smooth.

What I am wondering about is can the ditch lights be wired such that they only have power when the headlights are also turned on? I believe the fog lights can only be turned on if the headlights are already on (correct me if I’m wrong). I’ve tried to search here and via google but haven’t been able to find a discussion with regards to having the juice to the ditch lights being only on when juice is on for the headlights. It’s a 2011 TRD Sport.

Also, do your headlights stay on even after you’ve shut off the engine? Does Toyota have a timer such that if you forget to switch the headlights off and walk away they will automatically turn off after a period of time?

    Thanks,
    N

I believe the headlights will stay on if you leave the stalk turned. Not entirely sure tho, I’m OCD about all that.

As for the ditch lights, you only want to be able to turn them on when your headlights are on? Why would it be an issue to have the option when they’re off?

I’m guessing they want it tied to something that’s only got power when the key is flipped so they don’t get left on

theres ways to do it. I personally just put in a switch pro and set things keyed off ignition. It’s way easier

Yes and No. Yes it’s not hard to do, but no, you cannot do it with the CaliRaised harness since there is a only a single power-in lug on the harness.

To do what you want you need 2 power leads, one from the battery through the fuse to the relay. The second power lead comes from a fuse tap you can buy and plug into the headlight fuse behind the small access panel to left of the steering wheel. This will go to your on/off switch for the ditch lights so that ditch light switch will only have power when lights are on. Or you can find the accessory fuse in same fuse panel if you only want power with key set to accessories.

You can probably modify the CaliRaised harness if you can identify which wire provides power to the light switch, cut it and splice it to a wire that then taps into the Headlight fuse. Don’t forget to tap off other side of cut wire as it still has power going to it.

The headlight on my truck go OFF once the door opens.
However, if I open the door turn the headlights ON, and then close the door, they stay ON.

I’m also pretty sure the Fog Lights do NOT work if the Headlights are on High, only when on Low.
