    Hi all.
I've just installed a Gentex mirror (auto-dim / homelink) in my 2017 Tacoma, got it from Bob's Mirrors.
Since there is no pre-wiring I've ran the wiring down the A-pillar (pretty easy).
The mirror has a ground wire and 2 hot wires, one for continuous hot (garage door opener) and ignition source (auto-dim & compass).
I park my pickup outside, so I will connect both hot wires to an ignition switched wire.
I found this ignition switched green wire (pulled away on the left) and tapped into it. Mirror works fine, but I then disconnected it - worried that it might not be a good source to use, or that I could create another problem.
This was taken under the steering column, next to the kick panel, before I made the connection.
    Any thoughts?

I installed my dashcam using ths switched lead under the overhead cluster in the roof: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...switched-power-pin-outs.512640/#post-16571278

A DRL relay problem occurred with another member this week using the constant power source I mention in the post, so for now only use the switched lead there- it’s a convenient source of switched power, using the same wire powering the mirror without having to string a lead down any of the pillars.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not seeing how it applies. In that link it looks like they are tapping into a constant 12v source.

The green wire that I want to use is a switched ignition 12v source. I haven't found a wiring diagram to find out what this green wire feeds.
I just don't want to create issues down the road - no pun intended.
    Thanks

He did tap into switched power in that post. Brown and black/white. Should be perfect for you, since it's right where you need it.

ShirtTucker is right, I tapped into switched 12v and have been using it to run my dashcam (with a 5v USB adapter on the line) since August to be on only when I’m driving. It’s a very convenient tap in that all wires are hidden and less than a couple feet long.
The constant power tap I mentioned in the last part of the post was just for people preferring that, but further testing is needed on it.

No prob - if needed, you can always use that wire you put into the a pillar as a constant lead if you ever need it, such as for a constant on surveillance dashcam. It looks like the constant lead I found in the overhead might not be as good to use for that.
